Introduction 1Definition of NTFP`s
Wide range of definitionsNon-timber forest products included all goods of biological origin, as well as services, derived from forest or any land under similar use, and exclude wood in all its form (FAO 1995)For the purposes of this research, the non-timber forest products are defined as natural products (excluding animal or wood-based products) collected from more or less managed forest resources and, in some cases, with a proportion harvested from cultivated sources.
Introduction 2Problem statement
Among the NTFPs of SEE region, mushrooms, medicinal herbs, berries and honey stand out as of particular importance - both in terms of subsistence value and potential for generating cash income at the village level Marketable NTFPs can provide an important means for economic growth and sustainable forest management in local communities
Introduction 3The overall goal of this research is to analyze the organization and cooperation within the value chain of NTFP`s and their commercialization in the SEE region. In order to achieve this, the study will have the following objectives:
Introduction 4Objectives

Introduction 5Research questions: 1. To what extent does better organization improve
NTFP sector?2. To what extent does better cooperation improve
efficiency of the NTFP`s sector?3. Which marketing tools exist at the value chain of
NTFPs?4. How utilization of marketing tools is important for
increasing efficiency of the NTFPs sector?5. What are the obstacles and opportunities of the
NTFPs market?

Internal
External
Representing any group which gathers consistently for a common purpose
Methodology 1Descriptive (describes the real situation, time frame, location, description or comparing and specifying patterns for subgroups like pickers, collectors, processors and traders)Explanatory (explain that good organization of value chain will lead to increasing efficiency, maximizing profit and regional (rural) development)
Methodology 2
Research was broadly divided into three components:
1. National framework context2. Case studies3. Policy recommendations.
Methods 1National framework context
Literature review: - Data on forest cover, - Production, - Export and import data, - Enterprises, - Analyzing legislation,- Property rights regulation
Methods 2Case studies:3 case studies per each country
(comparative analysis)In each case studies survey will be conduct with questionnaire (4 different types for each actor in the value chain: pickers, collectors, processors and traders)

Sampling – sample sizeCase study
Simple Random Sampling (SRS)- pickers on country level - collectors on country level- processors on country level- traders/buyers on country level
