Birmingham International Rail Station
Client: Urban Growth Company
Stantec led the option development and appraisal for a new bridge over the West
Coast Main Line at Birmingham International rail station. This involved preparing options and completing a SWOT analysis on the options identified, before calculating a benefit cost ratio for the proposed scheme. We also presented to stakeholders (including HS2, NEC and Birmingham Airport) on the proposed scheme and development of options.
The Borders Railway Client: Transport for Scotland
The Borders Railway reopened connecting Tweedbank to Edinburgh Waverley, a distance of circa 35 miles. Transport Scotland commissioned Stantec to undertake a three-stage evaluation of the project. This mapped the emerging economic and societal consequences of the UK’s longest newly constructed domestic railway for over 100 years.
Delivering High Speed 2 Phase 2B – Birmingham to Manchester Client: Bechtel
We are providing technical assurance, programme management, and delivery of Hybrid Bill outputs for Phase 2B of the route, which will connect Birmingham to Manchester and Leeds. ‘Case for Change’ for New Rail Station Client: Highlands & Islands Transport Partnership
HMNB Clyde is located at Faslane near Helensburgh and is the site of the UK’s only nuclear submarine base. It is also the single largest employment site in Scotland. Despite this, public transport connections to the site are poor. Stantec is currently supporting the Highlands & Islands Transport Partnership in developing a ‘case for change’ for the site, which will include consideration of a new railway station on the West Highland Line.
Docklands Light Railway double-tracking to boost capacityClient: Transport for London
TfL appointed Stantec to support with feasibility assessments for the installation of a second set of tracks on the DLR from Bow Church to Stratford as part of the wider Crossrail development improvements. The extra capacity was designed to boost services in the East End of London and provide additional connectivity with Stratford International and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
HS2 Phase 1: Enabling Works Framework
Client: Morgan Sindall, BAM Nuttall, Ferrovial Agroman
We are providing full design, environmental and consents support for a major interchange and haul road enabling works package. In October 2017, Stantec was appointed to deliver the scheme design, including stakeholder engagement and preliminary design, which will provide access for National Grid power diversions and construction of the Chiltern Tunnel.
Transport Planning Logistics for Crossrail2Client: Crossrail2
Stantec provided input on the concepts for road and marine logistics options for the primary tunnel boring drive site for the Crossrail2 value engineering exercise. We further advised on the key transport logistical challenges and opportunities for prospective worksites – reflecting on the needs for construction vehicle movements and the probable abnormal load requirements and the likely transport management requirements for the emerging worksites.
