Pastor’s Letter Dear Parishioners, 4 reasons to be excited about stewardship at Epiphany Stewardship is one of the ways we show God that we love him. Stewardship includes fi-nancial giving, volunteering, and prayer. Hopefully, we're all able to give something to each of those three categories. When it comes to what we give, I want to encourage you that what you give, no matter how big or small, does make a difference. I would like to share with you some of the ways your stewardship has helped to contribute to this parish: 1. Senior Ministry – Our parish generously supports Lindenwood Area Senior Ministry,
a group that helps in many different ways, whether it be providing rides to the doctor, Stephen Ministers who visit those who are lonely, or putting on social events through-out the year. In addition, we have many willing Extraordinary Ministers who take communion to the homebound every single week.
2. Children's Ministry – This past year alone, we had a successful Vacation Bible School, a summer children's choir camp, a thriving Children's liturgy of the word, two full sessions of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd with our preschoolers, and a highly en-rolled PSR. Through the commitment of our many, many volunteers a new generation is being introduced to Jesus.
3. Social justice – Our SVDP was recently highly complimented by the district president as being a model group. We have developed an ongoing coffee (Breviary) fundraiser so that we are able to afford giving our neighbors in need high-quality fresh food as part of our assistance. The coffee fund has raised thousands of dollars in the past year. Our pro-life ministry continues to be highly active in a number of creative ways, and the Knights of Columbus began meeting here this past year and continue all of their charitable work.
4. Parish Fundraisers – We had an absolutely amazing year for the Fish Fry. Our Quarter Auction continues to grow. The Cow Patty Bingo was tons of fun. Our very last Trivia Night was fantastic (thanks to everyone who volunteered for so many years), and Fall Festival was a big hit. All of the energy that continues to be poured into these events shows just how vital Epiphany is to those around us.
I know I missed a lot, but there's so much going on at Epiphany that it's hard not to be ex-cited about how God can take our gifts and turn them into much more than we could have ever imagined. This stewardship letter will encourage you to look ahead and plan your giving for the next year so that when I write this letter next year I have many more things to highlight to be excited about. Each one of us, through our gifts large or small, are making a huge differ-ence in the world and in the Kingdom of God.
Fr. Michael
Time And Talent By: June Laschober
“It is through your
donation of Time and
Talent that you
become a member of
the community.”
Why at my age am I still up here volunteering at various activities? It is because of
the fellowship and friend-ships. This is not to say that Epiphany does not value your Treasures you do-nate. They are important to us. However, you can donate money to the American Cancer Society, but it does not make you an employee of the or-ganization. You can buy Girl Scout cookies, but it does not make you a Girl Scout. It is through your
donation of Time and Talent that you become a member of the community. I wel-come you to join us at the next event here at Epipha-ny, whether it is Fish Fry, Fall Festival, or Donut Sun-day. Come join us, meet your neighbor, become a member of the community.
Today, I would like to talk about Time and Talent. Let’s start with a little story, a parable. When I was a child, we did not have a dishwasher. My sister and I were the dishwashers after dinner each night. We fought regularly while washing dishes, my sainted moth-er refereeing. However, when my cousins came to dinner, instead of two of us doing the dishes, there were four of us, as my cousins helped also. Magically, the dreaded job became fun. For some rea-son, we always looked for-ward to doing the dishes with our cousins. To this day, I enjoy working in the kitchen with my cousins.
When you donate your Time and Talent to Epipha-ny the same thing will hap-
pen. It is not about the drudgery of the job, but about the joy of fellowship.
Years ago, when my hus-band and I were new pa-rishioners at Epiphany, it was my neighbor who invit-ed me to join her in activi-ties at Epiphany. Soon I had made some friends, and I looked forward to joining in. We are a family, a commu-nity, and together we can accomplish great things.

Volunteering - Our Volunteers Are Valuable
On November 3, 2018
Epiphany Sports Associa-
tion/Epiphany Friends For-
ever held their 30th Trivia
Night Fundraiser! Trivia
Night was started in 1989
by Bill Schmidt, Larry
Giovanni, and Bill Regan,
along with their wives
Bobbie, Joann & Carol. For
the past 19 years John
Ellison and Jeff O’Fallon
have co-chaired Trivia
Night with help from their
many volunteers. On the
first Trivia Night 30 years
ago there were 28 regis-
tered tables; this years
Trivia Night wrapped up
with 60 registered tables.
In 2006 EFF Trivia had a
record breaking 106 ta-
bles! Over the years, the
Trivia Night co-chairs and
volunteers have created
300 categories; 3300
questions and raised over
$200,000 for the Epiphany
Sports Association/
Epiphany Friends Forever.
Sadly, this year marks the
end of an era. After many
years of questions and
answers, EFF has decided
to discontinue Trivia Night.
On behalf of John Ellison
and Jeff O’Fallon, we
would like to thank every-
one that ever attended
and/or worked the Trivia
Night. Without all of you
Trivia Night would not
have been the success that
is has been. We would also
like to take this opportuni-
ty to congratulate the win-
ners of this years EFF Presi-
dent Award, Michelle
Jarvis, Larry Meyers and
Bill Kloecker. The Presi-
dent’s award is given to
people who go above and
beyond in their volunteer
work for the organization.
Larry & Michelle won the
award for their many
years of service to ESA/EFF
and Bill won for his thirty
years of service to Trivia
Night and all the other
many fundraisers he helps
with. We would also like
to offer a special word of
gratitude to John Ellison &
Jeff O’Fallon for dedicating
the last 19 years to chair
the Trivia Night!
We have always known
that the many parishion-
ers who volunteer to
serve in our various parish
organizations and minis-
tries are most valuable.
Now we have confirma-
tion. Based on the average
hourly wage, experts cur-
rently estimate that one
hour of volunteer time is
worth $17.55. However, to
us your volunteer time
is invaluable. Through the
gifts of time and talent
that our parishioners so
generously share we are
able to truly be the hands
and feet of Jesus Christ
here in Epiphany of Our
Lord Parish. Many thanks
to all those faithful and
generous stewards who
volunteer in our parish!
Your time is worth every-
thing to us!
