    Welcome to the EPOP Project Newsletter. In this

    number you will find some information and images about

    the EPOP exhibition, which is currently being held in

    Louvain-la-Neuve and Pescara until the end of April.

    We remind you that we are collecting presentations

    from any research group, institution, association, journal, website, collector or independent scholar working on the

    our research field and interested in presenting its activities

    on this newsletter.

    Project News: The Exhibition

    The EPOP exhibition opened at the Catholic University of Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve(Belgium) and at the Museo delle Genti dAbruzzo in Pescara (Italy) at the beginning of April,and it will close at the end of the month. It is formed by 60 panels divided over twelve sections,following the structure of the EPOP virtual museum (Introduction, Modes of Productions,

    Authors, Readers and Spectators, Young Europe and Old America, Imagery, The UrbanMysteries, The Adventure Hero, The Fantastic, The Investigator, The Outlaw, The Heroine).

    Below are examples from the exhibition panels, taken from both the Italian and the Frenchversions of the exhibition.

    About the Project:The EPOP Project (Popular Roots of European Culture Through Film, Comics and Serialized Literature)is a research and popularization project funded by the European Commissions CultureProgramme 2007 and is promoted by the Department of Music and Performing Arts of theUniversity of Bologna, the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Limoges, Pallas /Institute for Cultural Disciplines of the University of Leiden, the GRIT (Groupe des Recherchesur lImage et le Texte) of the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve, and the Department forCulture of the Province of Pescara. The project started on 24 November 2008 and will becompleted on 24 May 2010.
