PRESENTATION DAY This Friday will be our Annual Presentation Day. As I have indicated earlier everyone is welcome. If your child is receiving a service certificate or an award you should have received a letter a couple of weeks ago. The Presentation Day will be in two parts: Kindergarten to Year 2 commences at 9:45am; whilst Year 3 – Year 6 will commence at 11:30am. We ask you to remember the following: Strollers and prams must be left outside

the hall

Mobile phones should be switched off or

at least to silent

No smoking on school premises

Any photos or videos taken must be of

your child and only used for private

purposes.

Once children have received their award they will move off the stage, around the outside of the hall, to the back of the hall where official photos will be taken. This is for all photos with the exception of the kindergarten photos. All photos will be placed on the school website. We will not slow proceedings on stage for photos. We look forward to seeing you at our Presentation Day.

INDUSTRIAL ACTION REMINDER On Tuesday 3 December regular classes will not resume until 11am.

SCHOOL REPORTS These are in the final stages of being readied and will be sent home, with your child, on Friday 13 December. If your child is leaving school before this date you need to contact the class teacher with a few days’ notice to collect it early.

STAFFING CHANGES FOR 2014 Ms McKenzie has tendered her retirement papers with the department and will not be

returning in 2014. We are currently in the process of selecting a new Assistant Principal for the school. Miss Campbell will also be leaving us in 2014. Unfortunately circumstances beyond her control have necessitated a move to Canberra. Finally Mrs Jones in our office will also be moving interstate and will be leaving us. I will pay tribute to these ladies for all they have done in our final newsletter next week.

GIFTS FOR OTHERS We are still looking for gifts for our collection to present to Children at the Villawood Detention Centre and the Salvation Army. Please think about giving to those less fortunate. Details can be found elsewhere in our newsletter.

YEAR 6 ARCH A chapter in the life of our Year 6 students is fast coming to an end. They are all getting ready to begin High School in 2014. Those involved should be aware that the Year 6 Farewell will be held on Friday 13 December. The final part of their time at Epping Public School is the Farewell Arch. This will be held on the final day for students which is Wednesday 18 December. It will begin in our school hall at approximately 2:50pm.

HIGH SCHOOL ORIENTATION DAY This Wednesday 4 December is the designated Orientation Day for all students who are attending public high schools in 2014. This day will allow children to become familiar with the schools’ surroundings and get to know their future Principal, Deputy Principal, Year Advisor and other important teachers. Normal classes will be held for all students NOT attending an Orientation Day.

SCHOOL TRAVEL PASSES A few reminders for students who travel by bus or train using a school travel pass.

P&C Committee A big thank you to Lisa

Denniss who has volunteered to take on the role of Uniform Shop Coordinator next year. And of course a big thank you to Tanya Drego for her hard work over the years. The P&C still requires a Treasurer for next year. We cannot operate unless the position is filled. Equally, we are seeking a number of parents to Co-ordinate Canteen operations. The current committee has worked hard over the last couple of years to turn it back into a profitable operation. They are now moving onto other interests. If you have some great ideas and would like to get involved, now is the time. The Canteen is a valuable service for many parents and the children enjoy buying snacks and the occasional treat. Any queries to P&C Secretary, Marissa Kelly on 0408 088 449 or [email protected]

2014 Canteen Canteen – Reminder Canteen

Volunteers required for Canteen 2014 please contact Sue 0422 603 226 or Jiny 0433 852 487.
