The essence of the Competition is the word ‘elegance’ and the winner will be that turnout which, in the opinion of the Judge, presents the most elegant effect. This will obviously include vehicle, horse, driver, passengers, etc., but above all the general impression. It is judged from a distance and vehicles are NOT closely inspected as in ordinary Show Classes. The whole object of the Class is to establish which turnout presents the most pleasing picture and normal judging criteria do not apply. Attention may well be paid to drivers and passengers’ personal appearance, as it may contribute to the overall picture, but a fancy dress or period costume is definitely barred.
