    You can buildhorizontal or verticalmodels

    Modeling a Pump

When you model a pump, the main concerns are the location of thesuction and discharge nozzles in relation to the pump base. Whenthese are right, the rest of the pump is usually not too much of aconcern. Modeling the base, motor , shaft, and coupling are

important mainly for verifying you have room around the pumpfor its operation and installation, and also to establish a spatialvolume for the pump to occupy. Then you can see if somethingmight be clashing or interfering with parts of the pump.

Watch the opening sections of the video and then start your model.

To start the process, have Equipment running and

    1. Click New

    2.

Enter in the name: P-1000.3. Click Horizontal (for the orientation).

    Placing the maincomponents

In pumps, the mainconcern is locatingthe nozzles correctly

Then youll4. Click the Components tab and5. Click the first four buttons on the pump tool bar (see video).

You can follow the videos, then pause them at certain points, and fill out your dialog boxes with values as shown in thefollowing figures.

The video will show you exactly how to get the dischargenozzle oriented correctly.

The body and baseof a pump model canshow you if there isadequate clearance

    from other objects inthe model

The only tricky part to a pump is getting the discharge nozzle oriented correctly (seevideo). Also, you will have to do some adjustments to get the nozzles positioned asneeded in relation to the base. The video will explain that as it goes along.

Details on the discharge when you click Distance.

This model willcontain vessel parts, nozzles, andplatforms

    Modeling a Vertical Vessel

In this section youll model the vertical vessel named 35-450.

This will be an interesting example, because youll model thevarious components that make up the vessel, as well asplatforms and nozzles.

Note: The top platform has been modified from the video.See the details in the later section of this lesson.

    Equipment ModelingModeling Heat Exchanger

In this lesson you will model a heat exchanger. The HeatExchanger youll model looks as shown.

You could model the exchanger yourself, step-by-step if needed. It would be a matter of naming it, setting the orientation tohorizontal, and clicking components from the first toolbar toarrange them (elliptical head, cylinder, body flange, stiffeningring, etc.).

Experiment with other parts of the exchanger. Try some different measurements andnotice how the system handles your input.
