NEW DELHI, Nov 19:
The Supreme Court today dis-missed Centre’s plea seekingreview of its judgement debarringarrested persons from contestingpolls, saying it is not necessary tolook into the issue in view ofamendment in law by Parliament.
The apex court, however,said that the issue of constitu-tional validity of the amendmentwill be considered separatelyafter an NGO Lok Prahriopposed Centre’s petition andsaid it has challenged the
amendment in Representation ofPeople Act in this regard.
“You challenge it. It will be
separately considered,” a benchof Justices A K Patnaik and S JMukhopadhyay said.(PTI)
