LOT 2: EU – MIDDLE EAST
WHAT IS PEACE II?
It is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of
Higher Education that aims at:
Promoting collaboration among the European Union and
Middle East Institutions for bilateral exchange of students
and staff.
Enhancing capacity, transparency and employability as well
as skills and qualification of institutions and individuals.
Strengthening bilateral and multilateral research among the
participant countries.
WHO TAKES PART IN PEACE II PROJECT?
The Universidade de Santiago de Compostela coordinates this initiative funded by European Commission through the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
PEACE II project is made up of a CONSORTIUM of 20 Higher Education Institutions with a balanced representation of 10 Universities in Middle East (3 from Palestine, 2 from Lebanon, 1 from Syria and 4 from Jordan) and another 10 in Europe (Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Spain and United Kingdom).

MAIN FEATURES OF PEACE II PROJECT
PEACE II project is provided with a budget of €3,000,000.
The PEACE II project promotes 156 MOBILITIES of students and staff in a bilateral scheme (14 finance mobilities from EU to Middle East and 142 from Middle Easte to EU).

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE AS BENEFICIARY?
PEACE II is open to all candidates form the countries concerned by this lot, belonging to one of the following target groups:
Target Group 1 (TG1): Students and Academic Staff registered in one of the partner universities belonging to the consortium.
Target Group 2 (TG2): Students need either to be registered in a HEI (not included in the partnership) to have obtained a university degree or equivalent from a HEI
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE AS BENEFICIARY? PEACE II is open to all candidates form the countries concerned
by this lot, belonging to one of the following target groups:
Target Group 3 (TG3): (only for Middle East candidates)
Nationals from Middle East countries of the consortium in a
particularly vulnerable situation due to social and political
reasons.
*** The following rule must be taken into account: grants can not
be awarded to Middle East candidates who have lived and
carried out their main activities (studies, work etc.) for more
than a total of 12 months over the last five years in a European
country.
WHAT DOES THIS PROJECT OFFER?
PEACE II offers grants that cover:
Travel expenses.
Insurance costs.
Monthly subsistence allowances of:
- €1,000 for Undergraduate and Master
- €1,500 for Doctorate
- €1,800 for Post-doctorate
- €2,500 for Academic Staff

DURATION OF THE MOBILITIES
European beneficiaries:
Undergraduate: 6 and 10 months
Master: 6 months
Doctorate: 6 months
Post doctorate: 6 months
Academic Staff: 1 month
Middle East beneficiaries:
Undergraduate: 6 and 10 months
Master: 22 months
Doctorate: 6 and 24 months
Post doctorate: 6 months
Academic Staff: 1 month
HOW AND WHEN CAN I APPLY?
All applications must be submitted through the online
application tool that will be available in the webpage of the
project (www.usc.es/peace2).
PEACE II project will have three cohorts of mobilities:
1st cohort will be launched in November 2013 (mobilities will start in
September 2014).
2nd cohort will be launched in 2014 (mobilities will start in September
2015).
3th cohort will be launched in 2015 (mobilities will start in September
2016).
ACADEMIC RECOGNITION
Participating in PEACE II ensures the mutual recognition of all
credits performed in partner institutions within the consortium.
FIELD OF STUDY :
This project is open to all fields of study.
