Joanna Lumley’s India three-part series premieres MON May 6 | 10pA year older than independent India itself, actor and world traveler Joanna Lumley was born during the last days of The Raj, in the country that had been home to both sides of her family for several generations. In this fascinating series, Joanna returns to celebrate the history, culture, natural beauty, diversity and modernity of India today.
NOVA: Inside the Megafire WED May 8 | 9pIn 2017, 1.2 million acres of land in California were decimated by over 9,000 wildfires. Portugal experienced extensive, deadly fires the same year, and in Greenland, even the permafrost managed to catch fire, causing shocking wildfires in the frozen country. What’s causing these wildfires, and why are they getting worse? Join scientists as they race to understand the increasing megafire threat.
Escape to the Château series premieres SUN May 12 | 7pThis charming new series follows the real-life adventures of British engineer Dick Strawbridge and his wife-to-be, Angel, who buy a run-down French château. After 40 years standing empty, Château-de-la-Motte Husson needs considerable work. The property has no electricity, heating or water – and the sanitation system empties into the moat. This series follows their story as the couple takes on the challenge to not only restore their château to its former glory, but also turn it into a livable home and viable business.
National Memorial Day Concert 2019 SUN May 26 | 8pThis year marks the 30th anniversary of this special concert, held annually to celebrate America’s day of remembrance. Acclaimed actors Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise return as co-hosts, along with renowned pops conductor Jack Everly and the National Symphony Orchestra.

Harvest SeasonSAT May 18 | 11p
California’s Napa Valley is one of the premier wine-growing regions in the world, celebrated as an idyllic and luxurious destination. Yet many of the vineyard workers and the small producers with roots in the fields are rarely credited for the valley’s famed bounty. Filmed over the course of one agricultural year, Harvest Season takes an “other side of the valley” approach, giving a unique view of the dramatic process that goes into making some of the world’s most celebrated wines.
The Ito Sisters: An American Story MON May 13 | 1pCapturing the stories of the earliest Japanese immigrants to the United States, this award-winning documentary focuses on the experiences of Issei (immigrant) and Nisei (first generation born in the U.S.) women, whose voices have largely been excluded from American history.Photo courtesy of Antonia Grace Glenn.

Norman Mineta and His Legacy: An American Story MON May 20 | 9pImprisoned as a child during World War II because of his Japanese ancestry, Norman Mineta rose to become one of the most influential Asian Americans in U.S. history. His distinguished career has been a continuous unmatched slate of firsts, including 20 years in Congress and serving in the cabinets of two presidents: Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Still thriving today in his 80s, he is celebrated as a bipartisan visionary.Photo courtesy of the Mineta Legacy Project.

This month, we’re celebrating moms with special themed episodes of your favorite kids’ shows – including a brand-new episode of Pinkalicious & Peterrific, which will premiere May 6. For Mother’s Day, Pinkalicious and Peter want to do something extra special for Mommy. Will they make her breakfast? Will they write a poem? Maybe Robotta can help – if she doesn’t mess the house up first!
For airdates and times of all of our wonderful children’s programming, check our online schedule at KCTS9.org/schedule.
Want to help the little ones in your life celebrate their mom? Ideas for homemade gifts, recipes and more can be found at PBS.org/parents – just type “Mother’s Day” in the search field at the top.

Next month, Shaun Evans returns as the cerebral and solitary Detective Constable Endeavour Morse. Following the dissolution of the Oxford City Police at the end of the last season, Season 6 opens in 1969, with the team dispersed and finding their feet in their various new roles. Morse has taken a new job as a uniformed officer at the Woodstock police department.
Alongside Evans, the new season will welcome back an exceptional ensemble cast that includes Roger Allam as Fred Thursday; Anton Lesser as Reginald Bright; Abigail Thaw as Dorothea Frazil; Sean Rigby as Jim Strange; James Bradshaw as Dr. Max DeBryn; Sara Vickers as Joan Thursday; and Caroline O’Neill as Win Thursday.
Endeavour Season 6 on Masterpiece begins Sunday, June 16, at 9:00 p.m.
