    Companies Businesses

    A company is a legal personality, separate from its owner & management.

    The life cycle of a company ends when it is wound up.

    No need for renewal of incorporation. The profit generated by the company

    is divided amongst the shareholders. Required to submit annual returns

    and audited financial statements to the Registrar of Companies (SSM).

    Required to hold annual general meetings.

    A business does not have a legal personality and is not separate from its owner.

    The life cycle of a company ends when it is terminated or its registration is not renewed.

    Renewal of registration may be done annually, every two years or every three years.

    The profit generated by the business belongs to the owner.

    Not required to submit annual returns and audited financial statements.

    Not required to hold annual general meetings.
