Our History Beginning in 1998, Valerie Guste Johnson envisioned a more effective relationship to bridge solidarity between the hospitality in- dustry (and other concerned businesses) with homeless services in our Nation’s Capitol. In- fluenced by a legacy of developing solutions to improve public housing by her grandfather’s/ parents’ role (former President and Executive Board members, National Housing Conference), parish wide social justice programs (Holy Trinity Catholic Church), and a compelling read, e Street Lawyer, by John Grisham, our goals ‘took route’. We called ourselves KEYS for the Homeless, reflecting the unique “key” contributions of every aspect of our program. Effective March 21, 2005, received IRS 501c3 designation. Today, we believe our drive is evidence-based and results-oriented in effect- ing positive systemic change. Our Goals Maximize the use of in-kind resources. Serve as a catalyst for donor and beneficiary. Directly serve the core basic needs for those who are transitioning from homelessness and poverty to self-sufficiency. Reduce waste and protect the environment. Transform positive change in our communities. Testimonials Your resources go into direct services for the children and young moms in our care.
