Definitions The trainee is you, the person being assessed. You may also be referred to as the learner, student,
candidate or employee in some instances. The assessor is the person who will assess you. The verifier is a workplace supervisor, team leader, manager or assessor who understands the
assessment, works closely with you and can confirm that you have completed a task competently. Industry best practice refers to any enterprise and/or establishment requirements, practices, policy,
procedures, methods and protocols which are in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations and New Zealand Standards.
A fabric is defined as a cloth or textile made from yarn or fibre. A material is made from non-woven fabrics eg leather, vinyl, and suede. A spot is defined as a concentrated substance which sits on the surface of the fabric or material and
changes the texture or appearance of that fabric or material. A stain is defined as foreign material (soil, liquid, etc) on a fabric or material that is not removable by
standard cleaning methods. This also includes discolouration occurring in or on a fabric or material or any colour other that the natural colour of the fabric or material (ie, red stain, black stain).
Sequence of best practice is determined by the procedure for the removal of spots and stains. PPE Personal protective equipment.

Important notes The trainee must complete unit standard 25918 or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills of safe
work practices in carpet cleaning before starting this unit standard. Competence demonstrated during assessment against this standard must comply with the requirements of:

Definition An immediate risk might be fumes from chemicals; opening a window for fresh air could cause a secondary risk of a security concern. A secondary risk occurs as a result of a risk response.
