FISUOn May 31st, the FISU Executive Committee attributed the 2013 Winter and Summer Universiades in Brussels, Belgium, home of the FISU Headquarters. The ceremony took place at 8 pm at the Theatre of the Plaza Hotel in the city centre, and dur-ing the day, the candidate cities had the opportunity to deliver their final presentation. Three cities applied for the organization of the 2013 Summer Universiade: Kazan (Russia), Gwangju (Korea) and Vigo (Spain). For the Winter Universiade there was only the City of Maribor (Slovenia) after the withdrawal of Almaty (Kazakhstan). The FISU EC finally decided: Maribor, Slovenia will host of the 2013 Winter Universiade and Kazan, Russia will host the 2013 Summer Universiade. We are very proud of the fact that both candidatures which were chosen for the 2013 universiades were submitted by our member Federations - Slovenian University Sports Association (SUSA) and the Rus-sian Students Sport Union (RSSU). Our sincere congratulation to both! More information on the host cities and 2013 univer-siades can be found at www.universiademaribor.org and www.kazan2013.com. FISU FORUM IN KRAKOWThe FISU Forum was organised in Krakow (POL) from July 1-6, 2008. Delegates from 50 countries were present on the event, which main theme was “University sport: roots, strengths and challenges”. EUSA was also present on the event. Alberto Gualtieri, President, Matjaz Pečovnik, Secretary General and Iris Olberding, STC Chair presented the participants the his-tory, activities and future plans of the organisation in the ple-nary session on July 1, 2008. EUSA was also presented on the FISU Forum Fair, which gave the op-portunity to all the participating fed-eration to present themselves by infor-mational stands. The next forum will be held in Murcia (ESP) in 2010.

ODUPAThe first General Assembly of the Panamerican Continental Uni-versity Sports Association (ODUPA) took place from June 13-16, 2008 in San Salvador, El Salvador. Representatives from 19 countries attended the meeting. Olaf Tabor, Member of the EUSA EXECUTIVE Board, was present to inform the members of ODUPA about the structure and general objectives of EUSA. Even though the general problem that ODUPA has to overcome in order to become a powerful organization in the near future, is the size of the continent and the heterogeneous situation of university sports in the member countries, EUSA and ODUPA have much in common. It was very much appreciated to learn more about the development EUSA has been going through since its foundation in 1999. The close cooperation between the two continental associations has been beneficial so far and Tabor stressed the fact that an even stronger link between the organizations will help ODUPA develop a strong foundation and grow towards an important part of FISU. Therefore EUSA con-gratulates ODUPA for its first anniversary and a successful first General Assembly.
