Evaluation In this media course I have been able to use many different real media products in my coursework on my front cover magazine. My media product involves allot of codes and conventions that i followed for a front cover magazine, I developed allot of these conventions onto my front cover magazine by making sure that there was a main image and no writing was going over the persons face. My main image was using direct address; also my image was taken as a mid-shot. Also I made sure that the text colour was appropriate to the magazine and suited the main image and I kept to the colour scheme. The codes and conventions of a front cover magazine has to make sure that the title has its own unique font, and make sure that has its own different colour and stands out, however on my front cover magazine I didn’t use its own unique font as I should off to make it stand out and show that it is the title, additionally I used its own unique colour, this is something that I need to develop on making sure that the title is big, bold and unique. The title has to be aligned straight across at the top of the page which I have followed, however underneath the title should have a positioning statement which is a line of promotion for itself/ethos which i never included. I followed the codes and conventions for the colour scheme which was to include 3 or 4 different colours to my front cover magazine, I used 3 different colours which where appropriate and suited main image also. I have used several cover lines to draw the reader in, they are all the same font, also they frame the main image however the cover lines that I used on my front cover magazine are not written in capitals which they should be so that is something that I need to improve on. Following the codes and conventions of a front cover magazine, it has a main cover line which I did not use on my front cover magazine; I should improve that next time by using a main cover line which has larger font than normal cover lines so it anchors the main image. The maximum cover lines that should be used on a front cover magazine is 5/6 which i used 5 on my front cover magazine, i also used sub lines underneath my cover lines to give a little bit more information out than the cover lines do. I followed the codes and conventions for a front cover magazine by using a barcode which is placed at the bottom right of the magazine, I also used a date in smaller font underneath the masthead, and however I did not use price, issue number or website on my front cover magazine which should be included on it. Codes and conventions of a front cover magazine usually has buzzwords on it to suggest something special to the magazine, I didn’t use any buzzwords on my front cover so to improve that I could add some buzz words on it to make it the best . The software that I used for my front cover was Adobe Photoshop, I found it easy to use because the tools was all at the left hand side of the page and was simple, everything that i needed to use to put on my front cover magazine was all there.

In this media course I have been able to use many different real media products in my coursework

on my front cover magazine. My media product involves allot of codes and conventions that i

followed for a front cover magazine, I developed allot of these conventions onto my front cover

magazine by making sure that there was a main image and no writing was going over the persons

face. My main image was using direct address; also my image was taken as a mid-shot.

Also I made sure that the text colour was appropriate to the magazine and suited the main image

and I kept to the colour scheme. The codes and conventions of a front cover magazine has to make

sure that the title has its own unique font, and make sure that has its own different colour and

stands out, however on my front cover magazine I didn’t use its own unique font as I should off to

make it stand out and show that it is the title, additionally I used its own unique colour, this is

something that I need to develop on making sure that the title is big, bold and unique. The title has

to be aligned straight across at the top of the page which I have followed, however underneath the

title should have a positioning statement which is a line of promotion for itself/ethos which i never

included.

I followed the codes and conventions for the colour scheme which was to include 3 or 4 different

colours to my front cover magazine, I used 3 different colours which where appropriate and suited

main image also.

I have used several cover lines to draw the reader in, they are all the same font, also they frame the

main image however the cover lines that I used on my front cover magazine are not written in

capitals which they should be so that is something that I need to improve on.

Following the codes and conventions of a front cover magazine, it has a main cover line which I did

not use on my front cover magazine; I should improve that next time by using a main cover line

which has larger font than normal cover lines so it anchors the main image. The maximum cover

lines that should be used on a front cover magazine is 5/6 which i used 5 on my front cover

magazine, i also used sub lines underneath my cover lines to give a little bit more information out

than the cover lines do.

I followed the codes and conventions for a front cover magazine by using a barcode which is placed

at the bottom right of the magazine, I also used a date in smaller font underneath the masthead, and

however I did not use price, issue number or website on my front cover magazine which should be

included on it.

Codes and conventions of a front cover magazine usually has buzzwords on it to suggest something

special to the magazine, I didn’t use any buzzwords on my front cover so to improve that I could add

some buzz words on it to make it the best .

The software that I used for my front cover was Adobe Photoshop, I found it easy to use because the

tools was all at the left hand side of the page and was simple, everything that i needed to use to put

on my front cover magazine was all there.

Furthermore, In this media course my media product involves allot of codes and conventions that I

followed for a contents magazine, I developed allot of these conventions onto my contents page by

making sure that I have kept to the same colour scheme that I have used for my front cover

magazine and used 3 to 4 different colours, so that it keeps its brand identity.

I have written contents at the top of the page in large front so that it is obvious that it’s the content

page also I have included the website and the phone number on it to make it look more like a

contents page. On the contents magazine there should be an issue number and date normally

underneath the contents at the top however I never used them on my contents magazine, I should

improve it next time by including them on it to and following the codes and conventions and develop

them better onto my contents magazine.

Codes and conventions for a contents magazine has a specific layout, the main image is the largest

and normally takes up more than one column however on my contents page I didn’t have a specific

main image I had several images on my contents page, therefore to make it better I will need to

follow and develop the conventions onto my contents page by using a main image to make my work

better. My images link into my double page spread as I have used page numbers on to go with each

story.

The font size that is used for the contents page should really be 11/12 which I have used for my

contents page so that it is consistent throughout and easy to read. The size 12 font should be for

each title, and the size 11 font should be for the line of text underneath, which I have followed and

developed onto my contents page.

Usually on a contents page there is an editor’s letter to welcome and inform the audience, also

credits to credit the photographer for front cover photos etc however on my contents page it

doesn’t include this information so next time in order to make my contents page better and get the

best possible marks I will develop this convention onto my contents page.

Following the codes and conventions there is usually subscription information usually at the bottom

right, it contains website and address also phone number, name of editor, price and issue number.

On my contents page i included the website and phone number, I didn’t write the address, name of

editor, price or number of issues, so in order to improve my contents page will have to develop all of

this convention onto my work.

There is always one main image and several subsidiary images which link into other stories i included

this convention onto my contents page.

The software that i used for my contents page was quark express i found it harder than using

photoshop becase it was the first time i had used it before, the tools was on th left hand side like

photoshop but it was more complicated to use, e.g . i found it hard to import images onto my

contents page however the more i used it the more it become easier. Everything that i needed to

use to make my contents page looking good all the tools was there.
