It is challenging for nurse educators to prepare nursing students to function effectively and safety while providing nursing care in a complex health system
Studies have shown that nursing students and new graduate nurses lack critical thinking skills, clinical judgement, & competencies
Student performance was evaluated with a 2-4 patient assignment in the nursing simulation laboratory, mirroring a realistic patient-care assignment
A debriefing took place after each scenario to recommend strategies to improve practice upon transition to the actual work setting
Student competencies were improved with the use of innovative technology which supports the use of simulation as a learning strategy to develop critical thinking skills
