Misano, 4 September: In a hot and crowded opening day of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix with ambience tempe-rature of 35°C, LCR Honda MotoGP ra-cer Randy de Puniet set the 11th fastest time at the 4.226 km track which hosts the thirteenth round of the calendar. Just one week after their last outing at India-napolis in the US, the premier class riders had to battle hard against the hot condi-tions including the Frenchman which is still recovering from the left ankle fracture.

De Puniet has failed to finish the first lap on both previous visits to Misano after quali-fying well in fourth on the grid both times but the 28-year-old is a fan of the Italian track and arrived in Italy full of confidence

Honda MotoGP ha segnato l’11° tempo oggi nel primo giorno di prove libere del GP di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini che si è svol-to sotto un sole cocente con una tempera-tura di 35°C. Dopo il GP di Indianapolis dello scorso week end, i piloti della classe regina scendono in pista questo week end per la tredicesima tappa del calendario e devono battagliare contro un caldo torrido incluso il Francese che sta ancora recuperando le forze dopo la frattura alla caviglia sinistra.

De Puniet che non è riuscito a terminare le prime due edizioni del GP di Misano dopo essersi qualificato in ottima posizione, è tut-tavia un fan del tracciato della riviera ed è arrivato in Italia entusiasta e determinato nonostante la caviglia ancora malandata. Il Francese in sella alla Honda RC212V ha completato 26 giri fermando il cronometro in 1’37.056.

Today’s pacesetter Valentino Rossi headed the classification with a best lap time of 1’35.304. De Puniet – 11th: “It has been a positive beginning for me compared with the last two races. I am still not fit but my ankle is getting better. From the beginning the machine overall package seemed ok so we could move on the engine brake set up. I am struggling in the corners because the bike does not turn as I would like so we worked on the engine mapping to get some adjustments for tomorrow’s session. Our position is not so bad considering my conditions and the heat: we are less than seven tenths off the sixth fastest”.

De Puniet – 11°: “E’ stato un inizio incorag-giante rispetto alle due ultime gare! Non sono ancora a posto ma la caviglia sta mi-gliorando. Sin dai primi giri qui ci siamo resi conto che la moto andava piuttosto bene quindi ci siamo concentrati sul freno moto-re. Faccio un po’ fatica perché la moto non curva come voglio quindi stiamo controllan-do la mappatura del motore per trovare una soluzione in vista delle prove di domani. La posizione di oggi non è niente male consi-derando la mia condizione fisica e il caldo soffocante: siamo a meno di sette decimi dal sesto in classifica”.

Misano, 5 Settembre: Qualifying for the Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini was run in sunny conditions today with ambience temperature of 28°C and the LCR Honda MotoGP racer Randy De Puniet made solid progress despite the in-jured left ankle ending the day 9th overall.

After having achieved the 4th quickest time in this morning second free session at the 4.226Km race track, the French-man riding the Honda RC212V no. 14 set consistent and fast lap times throughout the 60-minute session and rode his machi-ne to the third row with a best lap time of 1’35.554 on lap 21 of 29. Tomorrow’s 28-lap race will get underway at 14:00 local time with Rossi, Pedrosa and Lorenzo on the front row.

Misano, 5 Settembre: Le prove ufficiali del Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini si sono svolte oggi sotto un cielo sereno con una temperatura di 28°C e il pi-lota del Team LCR Honda MotoGP Randy De Puniet ha fatto un enorme passo in avanti conquistando il 9th tempo.

Dopo aver segnato il 4° tempo nel turno della mattina sul tracciato della Riviera, il Francese in sella alla Honda RC212V nr. 14 ha migliorato il suo passo girando con ottimi tempi durante i 60 minuti delle quali-fiche guadagnando la terza fila con il miglior tempo di 1’35.554 (al 21° giri di 29). I 28 giri del GP di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini partiranno alle 14:00 ora locale con Rossi, Pedrosa e Lorenzo in prima fila.

De Puniet – 9° – 1’35.554: “Beh… sono abbastanza soddisfatto perché abbiamo mi-gliorato la moto e guadagnato 1.7 secondi nelle libere della mattina rispetto a ieri. Ho un buon passo e potevo anche fare meglio ma, come succede spesso nelle qualifiche, alla fine del turno c’era un po’ di traffico. Comunque va benissimo così: sono molto vicino al quinto tempo di oggi ed è confor-tante se penso che solo un mese fa ero in ospedale con una caviglia fratturata. Siamo di nuovo nel gruppo dove dobbiamo stare. Se riesco a partire bene possiamo dire la nostra e portare a casa un altro risultato positivo. Ci sono un paio di cose da aggiu-stare nel warm up ma questa pista mi piace e le cose stanno girando nel verso giusto”.

De Puniet – 12th: “First of all I am happy as I escaped unhurt from the crash. We expected a better result here and I was unlucky to be in the wrong place in the wrong moment. However we have been through three difficult week ends after my injury but we were capable to score some points every race and this very positive. We all made a great job to face the injury and, although I am not fit yet, we improved our lap times in the last three days and we are back in the middle group. The following three weeks off give me chance to reco-ver from my injury completely and I will at-tempt to improve my position in the world classification starting from Portugal”.

Misano, 6 September: after yesterdays San Marino and Riviera di Rimini GP po-sitive qualifying session result, LCR Hon-da MotoGP racer Randy De Puniet took a good start from the 9th place for the 28-lap race at Misano track but has been in-volved in a three-rider crash in the second corner. Luckily De Puniet escaped unhurt from the accident and rejoined the race in 14th place managing to end the thirteenth round of the season 12th.

Despite the left ankle fracture sustained one month ago, the Frenchman aboard the Honda RC212V battled through the pain to get the best from his machine in the last three races including the crowded Misano GP (55.103 fans). The 28-year-old set the 7th quickest time in this morning warm up session at the 4.226Km seaside track but he could not fight for a the top ten finish because of the multiple crash on the first lap (De Angelis, Edwards and Hayden).The MotoGP teams and riders will be back on track in Portugal (Estoril) on the 4th of October.

Misano, 6 Settembre: dopo aver conqui-stato la terza fila nelle qualifiche di ieri, il pilota del Team LCR Honda MotoGP Randy De Puniet è partito bene dalla nona piazza per i 28 giri del GP di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini ma è stato quasi coinvolto in una caduta multipla alla seconda curva. Fortunatamente De Puniet è riuscito ad evi-tare il peggio ed ha ripreso la gara in 14° posizione per poi chiudere 12° il tredicesi-mo round della stagione.

Nonostante la frattura alla caviglia sinistra sofferta un mese fa, il Francese in sella alla Honda RC212V non si è risparmiato nella ultime tre gare cercando di tirare fuori il meglio dalla sua moto e conquistando la zona punti anche oggi davanti a 55.103 ap-passionati. Il 28-enne ha segnato il 7° tem-po più veloce nel warm up della mattinata sulla pista della riviera ma non è riuscito a lottare per la top ten a causa dell’incidente del primo giro nel quale sono rimasti coin-volti De Angelis, Edwards ed Hayden. Ora il MotoGP si fermerà per tre week end per poi ritornare in pista in Portogallo (Estoril) il 4 Ottobre.

De Puniet - 12°: “Prima di tutto sono felice perché sono uscito illeso dalla caduta del primo giro. Mi aspettavo un risultato mi-gliore qui ma oggi ero nel posto sbagliato al momento sbagliato. Comunque abbiamo passato tre week end piuttosto complica-ti dopo il mio infortunio ma non ci siamo dati per vinti conquistando la zona punti in tutte le occasioni. Io e la squadra abbia-mo fatto un ottimo lavoro nell’ultimo mese e, nonostante la mia condizione, anche qui abbiamo dimostrato un ottimo passo tor-nando nel gruppetto dei primi otto. Nelle prossime tre settimane continuerò la riabi-litazione perchè voglio migliorare la mia po-sizione in classifica ed intendo farlo dal GP del Portogallo quando sarò perfettamente guarito”.
