The third-month alms-giving of former Labour Minister and Uva and Central Provinces Governor P.C. Imbulana was held at the Wendala Sri Visuddharama Vihara, Karawanella recently. The Cross Cultural Understanding Initiative ded-icated to promoting better understanding among communities in the country, will hold a seminar on ‘Improving mental well-being of mentally distressed people at the Ballart University Campus, R.A. De Mel Mawatha, Colombo 3 on January 24 at 10.30 a.m.

Dr. Jegapathy Rajendra MD, Deputy Chief of Psy-chiatry, Scarborough Grace General Hospitals, Toron-to, Canada will deliver the keynote address on “Psy-chiatry today in the treatment of mentally distressed people”.

110th Meelad-un-Nabi celebrations

The Board of Management of the Ummu Zavaya Mosque, Colombo will hold its 110th Meelad-un-Nabi celebrations on January 25 at 8.00 a.m. at the Mosque, under the patronage of Kaleefathush Shazu-lee Moulavi J. Abdul Hameed (Bahji).

The program will be broadcast live from 8.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. over the SLBC's Muslim Service.

Krishnamurti talk

A recorded public talk on “Is thought the instru-ment of right action ?” delivered by the late Indian sage. J. Krishnamurti will be replayed at Anula Nurs-ery School hall, High Level Road, Colombo 6 today at 9.45 a.m. It is organised by the Krishnamurti Centre, Sri Lanka Inc.

Kalutara Sujatha Vidyalaya sports meet

Asoka Vidyalaya's 40th anniversary

A series of events including pirith-chanting, a trade exhibition, felicitation of former members of the Col-lege staff and a musical concert will be held from Janu-ary 22 to 26, to mark the 40th anniversary of Asoka Vidyalaya, Colombo 10.
