EXECUTIVE OVERVIEW AUGUST 2019
Project Exodus. 37 Mackeurtan Avenue. Durban North [email protected] I www.projectexodus.net +27 31 563 9605
“Through Project Exodus, I see lives changed, transformed and delivered.
I see revival hit our nation. Exodus breaks boundaries and limitations. I see a
bright future.”
KEVIN PILLAYPastor, Jump Youth Mission
Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal
MAPULE RATSHEFOLACounselling Psychologist
Elder, Sanctuary of Hope
Johannesburg, Gauteng
“I am really excited about what Project Exodus is doing. Project Exodus has
brought the subject of compulsive behaviours and addictions to the pulpit
where they belong. This is in response to the Commission for us to set the
captives free. The project also helps to demystify mental illness, thus ensuring
that the Church becomes socially relevant. On top of that, Project Exodus
empowers and equips churches to be able to actively help its members.”
DR WENDY GREYVENSTEYNClinical Psychologist
Capital City Church International
Pretoria, Gauteng
“I am profoundly impressed by this programme. I think it is absolutely
phenomenal. I can completely understand why so many people come to a
place of freedom through it.”
MARK VAN PLETSENPastor, Life Changers Church
Cape Town, Western Cape
“I firmly believe that the church has to be involved in the toughest
challenges that our cities can throw at us. Project Exodus is an incredible
program and partnership that enables local churches to have a big impact
in the recovery of those suffering with addiction. It has to be one of the
most exciting things that our church has run at.”
“I AM the Lord, your God, who brought you out of
Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” EXODUS 20:2
The book of Exodus is a story of redemption, which begins
with the oppression of a nation under external rule – but ends
with their freedom in a promised land. In this story, God
leads His people on a miraculous journey out of slavery,
revealing Himself as gracious and compassionate Deliverer;
a powerful King who hears our cries and is able to liberate
us from our bondage.
Similarly, Project Exodus is a strategy to lead as many
people as possible out of the darkness and into the
light; out of addiction and into recovery. Pointing to
God as the ultimate restorer of life, Project Exodus
equips individuals with vital knowledge and skills,
required for sustainable recovery.

WORLD DRUG REPORT, 2017
“First and foremost, no one should be left behind in the
delivery of prevention and treatment interventions. Much more
needs to be done to ensure affordable access to scientific,
evidence-based care for those that desperately need it.”
NATIONAL DRUG MASTER PLAN, 2017
▪ Reduce biopsychosocial and economic impact of addiction.
▪ Strengthen mechanisms for implementing cost-effective
interventions to empower vulnerable groups.
▪ Ensure sharing of current good practices in reducing harm.
▪ Support the ability of all people in South Africa to deal with
problems related to addiction within their own communities.
BIBLICAL MANDATES
Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred
sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the
open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And
when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home.
Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice
with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ LUKE 15:3-7
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth
has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you. MATTHEW 28:18-20
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has
anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind
up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and
release from darkness the prisoners. ISAIAH 61:1
