An interview with Chuck Muncy In the first edition of Extra Connections, Supervisor of Outdoor Sports Facilities and Parks Chuck Muncy talks a bit about his life, career, and what he loves most about Christiansburg. In January, Chuck received the Wayne LaPierre Sr. Baseball Community Service Award which honored his work with youth baseball and soſtball programs. Seeing firsthand the dedication Chuck has for our community, we couldn’t think of a more-deserving recipient. Congratulations, Chuck! How long have you worked for the Town of Christiansburg? I’ve worked with the Town 23 ½ years full time and 7 years part time. What is your favorite part of your job? I enjoy interacting with the people and the community. Do you have a favorite Town moment? My favorite moment was when we hosted the first World Series at the Harkrader Field. It was a big accomplishment for the Recreation Department to host a tournament of that magnitude. What do you hope to see happen with the Recreation Center in the future? I hope they continue to offer all the services that the Town provides and that they continue to grow. What are some of your favorite places in Christiansburg, and why? I like the Huckleberry Trail because it’s nice to get out in nature and it’s quiet. e Christiansburg football field because I love football. I also like being at home because I get to spend time with my pets. What are your favorite hobbies or recreational activities that you enjoy outside of work? I enjoy hunting, fishing, spending time with my family, going to Christiansburg High and Virginia Tech football games, golfing, traveling and watching NASCAR. Where is your favorite place to travel? I like traveling to the Smokies.
