Cecence expands with significant investment in

production equipment.

Our recent investment in new manufacturing equipment highlights our commitment to being one of the leading panel suppliers to the aero and rail sectors. Not only does our new Platen Press have an extended 10’ x 5’ bed size - positioning us as one of the few suppliers able to manufacture such large panels – it is also a double daylight version which gives us huge capacity. In conjunction with our CNC router table this enables us to make pre-cut panels and supply kits of panels.

A new study released by the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) shows that investment in R&D within the aerospace industry helped to generate £10 billion of wider economic benefits to the UK in 2017

A new strategy for the future of UK aerospace

technology “Accelerating Ambition” has been

launched by the Aerospace Technology

Institute (ATI). The strategy was launched at

the ATI conference in Birmingham on the 19th

November 2019.

Accelerating Ambition sets out the challenges,

opportunities and priorities for UK aerospace

research, with a focus on reducing the

environmental impact of aviation and raising

the competitiveness of the UK sector.

It covers priority technologies for the overall

air transport system and the next generations

of vehicles, propulsion and power, systems

and aerostructures. It also looks at the cross-

cutting enablers that will drive the

development of new technology across

aerospace and adjacent sectors.”

Speed as a Competitive Advantage

Remember cartoons that showed some characters laughing hysterically, accompanied by a line like, "You want it when?"

Or how about "Price. Quality. Speed.” Choose one.

The design of improved solutions that address new requirements for unrealised or existing market needs provide

businesses or organisations with a competitive edge or a unique selling proposition. The speed these solutions are

implemented can make the difference between success or failure.

Today, customers have high expectations. They want to enjoy price, quality and speed. As a result, successful businesses

that can deliver on all three fronts win and retain customers. Here’s a pointer to help you achieve the same result.

With a reputation built on competitiveness, quality and speed, Progressive Technology is a leading subcontract CNC

machining specialist. Its continued growth is driven by producing precision components within incredibly short lead times.

Established over 40 years ago, Progressive Technology has continually invested in the latest plant and equipment. We

maintain a leading position with cutting-edge engineering production techniques, supported by state-of-the-art machine

tools and advanced manufacturing software. This enables our highly skilled workforce to manufacture bespoke complex

precision machined components for a wide range of industries including: Aerospace, Medical, Motorsport and Defence.

Progressive Technology’s aim is to ensure that the journey from your drawing to manufacture is fast, cost-effective and

seamless.

Get in touch with Progressive Technology if you require high quality, precision engineered, prototype or small batch runs

of components. We manufacture quickly and competitively. Find out just how quick we really are, better still, arrange a

site tour and see our production facility first-hand.

Our services include CNC milling & turning, EDM cutting & forming, 3D metal additive manufacturing, composite pattern

and carbon fibre machining.

Nuclear Powered Aircraft: Fantasy or Reality?

By David Pearce

Attempts are continually being made to reduce the use of fuels that result in emissions of carbon dioxide and replace these with other sources of energy that do not, at least directly, result in such emissions. Although much progress in fuel efficiency for all kinds of transport has been made in recent years, there are physical limits to how efficient conventional technology can be.

Aerospace – the emission mission

By Richard Abel

Someone taking a return flight from London to New York generates about the same level of emissions as the average person in the EU does by heating their home for a whole year. For good reason, the environmental impact of aviation has become headline news, and is something that has captured public attention.
