that aims to help producers in developing countries make better trading conditions and promote sustainability

Lots of different products come from fair trade. Foods like Bananas, coffee, and sugar…But also clothes, jewellery…

Producers receive a payment which permits them to improve their lifestyles.

Biocoop , Artisan du monde, Artisanat sel, Alter eco are associations which sell fairt rade products all over the world in shops or on the internet.

Fair Trade is a trading partnership based on dialogue, transparency, and respect that seeks greater equity in international trade.

It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions

and securing the rights of marginalized producers and workers, especially in third world countries.

Fair trade

European consumers are increasingly sensitive to the quality of the products they buy by considering their

health, environmental or social impacts.

Gradually, European consumers have become concerned and have changed their buying habits.

They have become especially attentive to the production conditions and marketing.

Economic impacts - more income - less vulnerable to the fluctuation of prices - better living conditions - access to new more lucrative international

markets.- Generates new business in other markets:

development of processed food, responsible tourism, technological improvement

What are the impacts of fair trade on third world countries?

Social services: education, school infrastructures, purchase of new and better equipment

health: creation of clinics, insurance companies …

Local Development: financing for community projects:

construction of restrooms, solar ovens, roads, increased accessibility to purified drinking water

Coffee prices Thanks to supermarkets, 51 % of consumers have already heard about Fair trade. Here we can see the difference between a fair trade coffee price and a traditional coffee price.

The product may be more expensive, but the fair trade producers receive 4 times more money than a traditional producer.
