All of this shows God’s presence here at FCLC and His Spirit that continues to stir, moving in & among us. We’ve gathered quite a bouquet of thanksgiving, haven’t we? Faith Community will be launching additional small groups to our already existing small group ministry during Lent this year! Our hope is to get the whole church connected to a small group during this Lenten season. These groups will be using the 6-week “AHA - The God Moment that Everything Changes” book and DVD study on which our Lenten sermon series is based.

A small group is a place where you can gather together with 8-10 of your Faith brothers and sisters to dig deeper into God's word, to feel connected and cared about, and to celebrate what God is doing in your life!

Under the Overpass: A Journey of Faith on the Streets of America by Mike Yankoski

Follow Mike Yankoski, a college student, as he learns about faith, identifies with the poor and finds more forgotten, ruined, beautiful people than he ever imagined existed, and more reason to hope in their redemption. The journey begins at a Denver rescue mission

and ends on a California beach. "If we respond to others based on their outward

appearance, haven't we entirely missed the point of the Gospel?" Order your book by February 15, by contacting [email protected]. Cost $10. Meet to discuss on Saturday, March 7, 9-10 am at church.

Women Wine and the Word New book study begins in February

We loved Liz Curtis Higgs writing so much in “Really Bad Girls of the Bible”, we decided stay with her while backing off a little of the “badness” with her work of “Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible.” This book studies 5 women of the book of Genesis.

Meet at Modena Wine Café at 6:15pm on the first and third Wednesday of the month, and join this fun group of women as we discuss these strong-willed women of God over a good glass of wine!

KoinoniaKoinoniaKoinoniaKoinonia, as defined on Wikipedia, is “a transliterated form of the Greek word, κοινωνία, which means communion, joint participation; the share which one has in anything, participation, a gift jointly contributed, a collection, a contribution, etc. It identifies the idealized state of fellowship and unity that should exist within the Christian church, the Body of Christ.” The ministry previously known as Fellowship is here to support Koinonia at FC. They have a team that has already planned our Lenten soup supper meals, and is excited about putting on the Seder meal on Maundy Thursday. We are so excited to add the new faces of Renee Zerebeckyj, Ruth Fehn and Kathie Caldwell to this team! Future KoinoniaKoinoniaKoinoniaKoinonia sponsored activities, including the annual church picnic in August and Faith Day at the Rockies, need a sponsor in order to be successful this year. We are looking for an individual or a small team to take the lead on these activities, with the support of the Koinonia team. This way burnout is low, and new ideas can flow! If God has given you the gift of Hospitality or Helps, and is leading you to support fellowship and community at FC, please contact [email protected]!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT Gordie & Donna WallaceGordie & Donna WallaceGordie & Donna WallaceGordie & Donna Wallace

Gordie and Donna Wallace both have their roots in Minot, SD, and have known each other since the 7th grade. They

began dating between their junior and senior year in high school and they were married in 1965. This year they will celebrate 50 years of marriage! Before they moved to Longmont in 1989 for Gordie’s job, a friend who’s daughter was attending, told them about Faith Community. The first time they came to worship at FC, there were only about 20 – 30 people in church and Pastor Dan thanked everyone for coming to worship in the snowstorm. Being from North Dakota, the Wallaces didn’t realize that there was a snowstorm at all.

They said their family liked FC from the very beginning and felt very welcomed by several people including the Koehlers, Tollefsons, Thomans and many others. They enjoyed dinners for 8 with the Schemmel, Lee, Olson, Goebel, Alm and Baas families. They said FC quickly became their church home and their family has grown with the church. Pastor Dan has baptized all 8 of their grandchildren!

The Wallace family is very close and most of them worship at FC, which is a real joy and blessing to Gordie and Donna. Their family includes Darcie & Kevin Ell and their children: Lincoln, Hayden and Becker; Stacie & Matt Sharp and their children: Connor and Haakon Irey and Tatum Sharp; Jamie & Gabe Vigil and their children: Gavin & Roman; Josh & Sara Wallace and their “children”, their dogs, Frank and Bob. Gordie’s career had been in advertising sales, but he is pretty much retired now, working part time at the Budweiser

Events Center as an usher. Donna has worked for Boulder Valley Asthma & Allergy for 25 years. In 2001, Gordie and Donna moved to Loveland to be closer to their family—all of whom live in Loveland except Josh and Sara who live in Ft. Collins. Gordie and Donna love being close to their family and enjoy watching their grandchildren on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Gordie was recognized in September 2014 for serving as our head usher for 25 years! What an amazing and faithful

servant heart! He also attends the Wednesday Morning Men’s Bible Study. Donna faithfully serves as a greeter and a communion assistant and she has previously served as co-chair for Outreach and Pastoral Care ministries. The family has also served on church mission trips. The Wallaces said they just feel JOY worshiping at FC and they want to do all that they can to make visitors and new

members feel welcome. As for Gordie and Donna, they “will be here until they can’t be here anymore”. What a tremendous blessing this beautiful family is to Faith Community!

Gordie Wallace was recognized on September 28, 2014, for 25 years of

faithfully “passing the basket” at Faith Community Lutheran Church.

This group meets on the third Monday of the month in the Fireside Room. This is a very informal, comfortable and loving gathering for people who are experiencing grief in any way whether it is recent or from many years

ago. Together, we will help each other as we journey through our grief. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 16, at 7:00pm. Please contact Gloria Borcher for more information ([email protected] or 720-864-8221).

Nursery News

“Yes, no…slow?” I’m sure you may have heard these words floating around FCLC lately. It may have been in Pastor Dan’s sermon, Tanja’s weekly newsletter column, or in the narthex. It seems to have struck a chord in our church family. To recap: Are you listening to the Holy Spirit? Is God telling you “yes,” “no,” or “slow”? Often times when God tells me yes, I educate Him as to why He is wrong. He has no idea what’s it’s like to be busy and at times over-extended and having these wonderful, beautiful children who sometimes don’t listen at all…..No, I’m sure He can’t relate at all. How arrogant of me!!! But when I do listen and put my own fears and selfishness aside; the reward is always beyond what I could dream. Taking over as Nursery Coordinator has been that experience. I dug my heels in for months and refused to listen to that voice but when I finally did – WOW! I found not a job, but a ministry. A ministry filled with giggles, love, hugs, and kisses from the purest of hearts. Consider this your formal hand-written invitation! (I have not lost my ingrained southern manners). If God is telling you “yes” to the nursery, we want you! The commitment is small. One service, one Sunday, once a month. Is God telling you “slow”? In that case we have “substitute volunteers” who only work when our regular volunteers are unable. This should be no more than once every three – four months. Is God telling you “no”? Please come by our bulletin boards and get a look at our youngest members and volunteers and please pray for us. Thank you to our rotating adult volunteers; Sue Kernc, Camilla Lee, Faith Myers, and Renee Zerebeckyj. Thank you to our January middle school helpers; Dakota Wiechman, Marit Gjelde-Bennett, and Hannah Mertz. A HUGE thank you to Randall Myers, John and Jen Fueston, and Tanja Nelson for substitute volunteering in the nursery so that I could help chaperone the middle school Faceplant trip, and to Camilla Lee for providing care during the annual budget meeting. Blessings!! Erin Warren

Prayer Shawl Ministry Celebrates #1500

It is time to celebrate this awesome ministry! In January 2015, this ministry logged in shawl #1500! That’s a lot of shawls that have been lovingly and

prayerfully made since late 2007! These shawls have touched so many who have been wrapped in the love of Jesus. Thank you to all who have contrib-uted in any way to this ministry over the past 7 years. YOU are making a differ-ence in the lives of others! In addition, this ministry provides prayer dolls for children and prayer scarves for our graduating seniors and others in our community.

If you or someone you know could use the comfort of a prayer shawl, contact Janet Streed, Carole Freeman, Diana Phelan or the office.

Stephen Ministers are available, and specifically trained, to walk with someone who might be going through a tough time. Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation

who listen care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. If you or someone you know could benefit from distinctively Christian and compassionate care, please contact Gloria Borcher, Mara Hotaling or Karla Irvin.

On January 8th Faith Community celebrated the life of Perry Willson, who ended his baptismal journey on January 3rd. Even with significant health challenges, Perry continued to serve as a Stephen Minister. Just last year, he provided a continuing education segment for Stephen Ministers,

providing valuable information on caring for people dealing with cancer. How blessed we all have been by this caring and faithful servant of the Lord.

Mission Trip To Uganda July 27 - August 8, 2015 FC will be taking a 12-day mission trip to Uganda from July 27 - August 8 this summer! Partnering with Anne Dean’s family ministry, we will do various work projects, house visits, prison outreach, concerts/music ministry, and much more!

Anyone 12 years and over (Anyone under 18 needs to have a parent travel with them) can join this inter-generational trip. This is a great opportunity for families that want to serve together. The cost of this mission trip is $3,200 per person, or $3,000 each per married couple. Contact Lucas Kinser or Anne Dean if you are interested!!

Haiti Mission Trip June 2015 Lucas is excited to lead a missions team back to Port Au Prince Haiti in from June 13-19, 2015! Partnering with Heartline Foundation, we will be helping with various minis-tries like serving food and handing out new shoes to children in villages, working with

orphans, as well as other work projects to help bring hope and the love of Christ to the people of Haiti. We will spend most of our time at the FREM Orphanage, which is the orphanage Faith Community sponsors.

This is an inter-generational mission trip with a minimum age of 12 years (participants under the age of 18 will need a parent chaperone). This trip is for students, adults, and anyone who would want to serve in Haiti. The estimated cost for this mission trip

is $1,000-$1,200. Contact Lucas Kinser if you are interested! Don't miss out on this life-changing experience!

"Staff Updates!" We are humbly grateful for how God has blessed us with 6 new faces on staff in recent months. As most of you know, Lorelei Bowman has been a blessing as "Interim Worship Director.” She has indicated that she would like to continue serving in this position, so we're working on getting her some help in this area. Pastor Amy has been a blessing as "Interim Associate Pastor," and she has indicated that she would enjoy serving beyond this May. We're looking forward to her continued ministry with us at least through the end of this calendar year. Erin Warren has been a blessing as Nursery Coordinator. We’re enjoying her hilarious humor and enthusiasm. Wes and Jess Corbin have been a blessing as “Youth In-terns,” and their passion and heart for kids has been a real joy. Andrew

Witt has been a blessing as our main Coffeehouse Worship Leader. what an amazingly talented young man of God!

Since several of these positions are temporary it will be a high priority for our Governing Board and our HR Team to chart a course for our staffing priorities. Our new Governing Board of Neal Carver, President, Tom Kramer, Vice President, Mark Datte, Treasurer, Anne Dean, Secre-tary, and Miles Olson & Pam Knipsheer, Members-at-Large, plans to meet at 7:00pm on the 1st Tuesday of each month, usually at the church. Our HR Team (Susan Moller, Jeff Bonds, Federico Ruiz, Mark Praska, Tracy Rothe, Bill Prout, and Kelly Marshall) will be meeting Monday, February 2nd at 7:00pm at the church.

Your Partner in Ministry, Pastor Dan
