SRWCRecreation Services is proud to present the new

Student Recreation and Wellness Center to the Ball State University Campus. Opening on August 18, 2010, the SRWC

will provide an additional 200,000 square feet of new and renovated facility and program space for Ball State

Students, Staff, Faculty, Alumni, and it’s community. Below you will find descriptions of the new program areas that

you will be able to enjoy during all open-rec hours.

The center provides patrons with a five -court gymnasium (27,841 sf.). Traditional games such as basketball, volleyball, and badminton can be played. This space can also be used for special events such as tournaments, camps, and student activites.

The center provides three levels of fitness opportunities (14,795 sf.). Ground Level provides a comprehensive strength training (two complete line of selectorized, one complete line of plate loading equipment, and a complete line of free weight). Level one provides a variety of cardio equipment: ellipticals, treadmills, upright and recumbent cycles, steppers, and cross trainers. Level two provides a comprehensive core and stretching area along with additional cardio opportunities including rowing machines.

The area (19,458 sf.) provides users with a state of the art infill turf playing surface for various recreational activities. Such as: Flag football, indoor soccer, indoor lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, indoor rugby, and instructional activities including baseball and golf, as well as other special events.

Suspended 35 feet above the gymnasium floor, is a three lane, 200 meter (1/8th mile) recreational track. The track provides jogging and walking options on a resilient rubber surface.

In this area of the center, patrons will be able to utilize 34-foot climbing pinicle and wall (3,409 sf.), and 50-route varying in degree from beginners to advanced. The Outdoor Pursuit center (4,070 sf.) provides all of the necessary equipment, resources and services for outdoor activities such as: camping, kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, cycling, as well as a variety of outdoor pursuits.

Spaced throughout the center, are areas to meet and relax with friends. On the ground level we have a game room and a lounge area. Off the main entrance we have a casual area for meeting friends and relaxing. The center is WiFi capable for your personal and academic needs.

Three multipurpose rooms (2,009 sf., 1,959 sf., 2,290 sf.) offer participants physical activities opportunities including: group exercise, instructional, and combative arts. In addition, these rooms can serve as meeting, presentation, and hospitality space.

taught by well trained student instructors. We offer over 70 classes each week during the

school year. Classes include Spinning, Pilates, Zumba, PIYO, and strength training. These classes

are only offered to BSU affiliates and students who have purchased a BSU FIT pass for that semester.

Come learn from the professionals how to do everything, from belly dancing to ballroom dancing, even weight lifting to yoga. The classes are aimed to teach you how to continue on even after the classes are finished. These programs are available to both the Ball State and Non-Ball State communities ages 18 years and older.

Intramural Sports are open to Ball State students, faculty, staff, and

alumni (with valid Ball State identification cards) looking to play competitive sports against

other on campus. We provide over 15 different leagues and tournaments each semester in sports

ranging from basketball to soccer and euchre to dodgeball.

The Outdoor Pursuits Program includes a climbing wall, outdoor

equipment rental center, trip programs, outdoor skill clinics and workshops, and an outdoor

resource center. The goal of the Outdoor Pursuits Program is to grow into a dynamic, efficient year-round program

The Aquatics program offers two swimming pools for patron use.

We offer a fun and safe environment for daily exercise or leisure use. The Health and Safety program

offers safety classes for Ball State affiliates and the Muncie community. Classes include CPR for the Professional Rescuer,

Adult, Child, and Infant Lay Responder CPR, and Lifeguarding.

Youth and Family provides programs and activities such as swim lessons, Cardinal Kids Camp, andyouth basketball for children to have activities in which to participate. Look for new programs coming this fall with the expansion of the facility. We strive to bring excitment and enjoyment to children while they participate in the programs we offer. Learn to Swim is designed to teach children to be comfortable in the water, how to float, the proper ways to coordinate arms and leg movements, correct breathing techniques, different competitive strokes and diving. All lessons are at Ball Pool.

We will help you throw a birthday bash by providing the cake, drinks, and the option of having the party at the pool or climbing wall. We let all invitees of the birthday bash swim or climb for an hour with just the people invited to the party and then we provide a room to have cake and open presents. Up to 25 people max for pool parties and up to 12 max for climbing wall parties (special arrangments will be necessary if more than the maximum). Price includes cake, decorations, pool rental and lifeguards or climbing wall and attendees.

Sitting at home bored with the kids on a Friday night? Recreation has a solution for you! Bring your kids and come swim every Friday night at Ball Pool for free!

Vaild Card holders (with the exception of Burris, Indiana

Academy, and guest pass patrons) may check out a variety of sports equipment from

the SRWC Equipment Room. Equipment must be returned the same day of checkout before closing.

Arrangements for overnight checkout must be made 24 hours in advance and can only be held for 24 hours. Full

replacement cost will be assessed for items lost, damaged, or stolen while in possession of the patron.

The replacement cost is $5.00 per 24 hours missing (min. cost is $5, additional charges may occur).
