Maximum mesh size ≤ 6” X 6” – Dist bet nets 6” max
Webbing border rope - min break strength 5,000 lbs
Relevant standards (BS EN 1263-1:2002), test methods
Testing once in 12 months - Competent person
Adequate clearance below net for deformation
Daily Inspections against checksheets
Drop test after each installation/major repair/6 months• 400 lbs bag of sand 28”-32” in dia• dropped from the highest surface• not less than 42” above the net level
Safety Net shall maintain the
minimum size and clearance req.

A- ANCHORAGE (POINT)
Tested at 5000lb (22.2kN) per worker (Point Anchorage)• Combined person & tool weight of < 310 lbs (140 kg)• Factor of Safety of 2 for weight > 310 lbs
Anchor point part of Fall Arresting System - testing load asper design - maintain factor of safety as 2.
Anchor point - above Lanyard connection Ring of harness
In case of fall - worker neither swing nor touch ground
Installation checking and supervision - competent person
Periodic inspection and testing
Maintain Fall Clearance Distance
HAND RAIL IS NOT ANCHOR POINT

5 - 10 mins Average time to symptoms:
8 - 20 mins Unconsciousness
5 - 40 mins Loss of Consciousness to DEATH
FALL SUSPENSION TRAUMA
FALL ! - Arrested by harness
Blood pools in leg muscles. Brain starts to loose oxygen
Brain raises pulse rate and respiration’s to compensate
Gravity makes more blood pool in legs. Reduction in blood flow to brain
Syncopal response triggered. Pulse and breathing rates drop
Slow loss of consciousness. Remains upright
0xygen levels continue to fall. Posture puts Airway at risk
Brain damage
Also known as Orthostatic Shock.
It is the medical term for the body’s inability to cope
with prolonged periods of immobility in a vertical
position.
