FAST. PRAY. SHARE. For the next three weeks, we as a congregation will go on a transformative journey together. We will ask God to show us ways to share his love, his truth, his life, our resources, and Jesus. From the very beginning God shared his love and life with his people. He chose a people for himself, and he chose a man—Abraham. His promise to Abraham was: You will be blessed to be a blessing. This will be our focus this year. Because God shared His very nature with us, and then sent his Son to give his life, we can live and have the freedom to share his life with those around us. Our purpose is clear. We are going to trust that, as we fast from those things that distract us, and pray that we will hear God speak to us (as a congregation and as individuals), that as we fast, pray and share, he will change us and those with whom we share, and he will bring great glory to himself. This booklet is meant to be a guide to help us on our journey. There are four sections for each day’s devotional: a Bible verse, question(s) for discussion, a prayer, then an action point. We’ve included some space if you would like to journal your impressions from the Lord. Each day we as a congregation will take a page and spend 5-15 minutes or more and seek the Lord through these daily spiritual exercises. FAST. PRAY. SHARE.For the next three weeks, we as a congregation

will go on a transformative journey together. We will ask God to show us ways to share his love, his truth, his life, our resources, and Jesus.

Because God shared His very nature with us, and then sent his Son to give his life, we can live and have the freedom to share his life with those around us.

This booklet is meant to be a guide to help us on our journey. There are four sections for each day’s devotional: a Bible verse, question(s) for discussion, a prayer, then an action point. We’ve included some space if you would like to journal your impressions from the Lord.

DAY 1Pray with Right Motives

James 4:3 (NLT) And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

Psalm 139: 23-24 (KJV) Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts; And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Questions: Ask yourself: How are my motives? Are they pure? Do they match God’s desires for His people? Am I willing for God to purify my motives?

Prayer: Lord, sometimes I don’t have pure motives, and I need your perspective. Help me to hear your still, small voice. Show me any wicked (or displeasing) way in me and help me to repent of it. Lead me now, I pray.

Action: Confess. Repent. Forgive and make reconciliation with anyone God might reveal to you.

DAY 2Ask Humbly

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Question: This verse was given to the Jewish people, but how can you apply it to your life?

Prayer: Lord, I choose right now to humble myself before you. [You may want to kneel or get in a posture of humility.] I desire to hear from you and I ask you to heal me, our church, and our nation. Action: Listen to what God is saying to you. What is he asking you to believe or do? Write it down. Take a step of action.

DAY 3By Faith

Hebrews 11:7 (NIV) By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family...

Matthew 17:20 (NIV) He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Question: What is the “mountain” in your way?

Prayer: I think my faith is small and that I can’t move this mountain in my way in the area of ___________________________[insert what is in your way, be it a person, or circumstance, etc.] So I com-mand this mountain be removed in Jesus’ powerful name. Action: Ask God to move your “mountain.” He is able to do it, though he may do it differently than you would have chosen.

DAY 4Pray Confidently

1 John 5:14-15 (NIV) This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

John 14:13-14 (NLT) You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in My name, and I will do it!

Questions: Do you truly realize that God wants you to be confident in your prayer? What gives us confidence as we come to him and ask?

Prayer: I come before you today in confidence, knowing that if I ask to glorify your name, and for your purposes, you will do what I ask. So now I ask you to _______________________.

Action: Ask God for something that is beyond your ability to do on your own. Then watch what he does. And thank him.

DAY 5Pray According to His Will

1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Questions: Are you believing God for what he wants in your life? Or is it about you and what you want for yourself?

Prayer: Lord, I hear you saying to me, “It’s okay, child, you can ask me for that.” So I am asking you for faith to move this mountain in my life, so that You will get the glory. I am asking you to show me, and us as a church, practical needs in our community, knowing you will answer this prayer, because this is your will.

Action: As you read the Bible, ask for what the Word emphasizes. For instance, his Word tells us to pray for laborers and to pray that we expand our borders as individuals and as a community of faith.

DAY 6Take It All

Romans 12:1 (NIV) Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bod-ies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Questions: Will you give your life to him? Will you sur-render your will?

Prayer: Ask God to take your life and let it be conse-crated to him. Action: Read or listen to the lyrics of “Take it All,” and give yourself to Him:

I give You my life, I give You my trust, JesusYou are my God, You are enough, JesusMy heart is Yours, My heart is YoursTake it all, Take it all, My life in Your hands

I lay down my life, and take up my cross, JesusFor You are my God, Whatever the cost, JesusFor You, Jesus

DAY 7Pray for Something You Can’t Do

Matthew 17:20 (NIV) He replied, Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIV) Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Questions: What goal, change or request seems impossible to be fulfilled in your personal life? At Living Streams?

Prayer: It is so easy for me to think of you as too small, Lord. Help me realize you put the stars and the galax-ies in space, and I can ask for things out of my comfort zone.

Action: Ask for something that is bigger than you can do. Ask for something only the Father can do

DAY 8Share His Love

1 John 4:10 (NLT) This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacri-fice to take away our sins.

Mark16:15 (God’s Word) Then Jesus said to them, “So wherever you go in the world, tell everyone the GoodNews.”

Questions: Who can you share God’s love with today? Ask God to give you an opportunity to tell others about him this next few weeks.

Prayer: Sometimes it is hard to share the most wonderful news ever announced. I am so self- conscious. But you changed my life because someone was willing to tell me about you. Help me, Lord, to use words today to let people know about you.

Action: Find common ground with someone you care about who does not know Jesus. Ask them “Have you ever thought about eternity? I’d like to share something that has really made a difference in my life.”

DAY 9What to Share

Romans 8:26 (NIV) In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Questions: Do you know with whom you should share? What to share with them?

Prayer: Holy Spirit, give me eyes to see the needs around me. Help me share what you want me to share today with whomever you put in my path. Action: Ask God to show you what you are to share today and be ready to give money, time, talent. Do something for someone.

DAY 10Marks of Maturity

2 Corinthians 5:15 (NIV) And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV) And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

Questions: All of us are more mature than someone. Are you giving of yourself, your time, and resources to help others mature and be discipled? Are you so self-absorbed that you find it hard to give and share with someone right in front of you?

Prayer: I know I should not be living just for myself. Show me how to give my life away as you did for other people. Let me give up one of my comforts for you this week—a latte, TV, a meal—to help someone else see you in me.

Action: Who is it you can disciple and help grow in the Christian life this year? Pray and go to them and ask if you can mentor or disciple them this year.

DAY 11Give According to What You Have

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NIV) Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Questions: Are you giving on a regular basis? Have you thought of asking the Lord to increase your ability to give?

Prayer: I know all I have is yours, Lord. Show me the best places to give to those in need. Help me give by faith.

DAY 12With Whom to Share

Isaiah 61:1-3 (NIV)The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God,to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

Questions: Who do you pass each day that fits the above description? Will you share with them if it is appropriate?

Prayer: Give me eyes to see the brokenhearted and poor and those in captivity today.

Action: When you see a person in need, ask God to show you if he/she is the one to whom you are to minister, and then minister to him/her.

DAY 13Sharing Our Time

Colossians 4:5-6 (ESV) Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. Questions: Will you share your time with someone in need? Are you looking for those people who need just a moment of your time? How about those who need ongoing help?

Prayer: You have given me enough hours in the day to do what you want me to do, Lord. Show me who needs my time. Show me how to number my days.

Action: Evaluate where you are spending your time. Ask God to help you know if there is anything to cut out to make room for what he would like you to do. You might go on a short term mission, give to the poor, feed the homeless, pray for people in your everyday life.

DAY 14Sharing Our Resources

Acts 2:43-47 (NASB) Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their num-ber day by day those who were being saved.

Questions: Ask yourself: Am I feeling entitled, like I don’t need to get involved because “I have done that?” Do I think my resources will run out? Will I believe that God can give me all I need?

Prayer: Help me know that all I have is yours, Lord. Help me to be generous with what you have entrusted to me.

Action: Give some of your resources away to help meet a need for someone in your circle or even out-side your circle of influence.

DAY 15Sharing Our Gifts

1 Corinthians 12:4-11 (NIV) There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the com-mon good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowl-edge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Questions: What are your spiritual gifts? Are you us-ing them at Living Streams?

Prayer: Help me to use my gifts to edify and build up the body here at Living Streams.

Action: If you don’t know your gifts, sign up for the Living Streams Explore Group* and find out what they are. If you know what they are, use them now.

DAY 16Sharing Our Testimonies

Acts 26:12-16 (NIV) On one of these journeys I was going to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests. About noon, King Agrippa, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, blazing around me and my companions. We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”Then I asked, “Who are you, Lord?”“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” the Lord replied. “Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and all will see of me.”

On six separate occasions between Paul’s third journey and his trip to Rome, he stood before different crowds and presented Christ to them. Six times he stood alone. Six times he addressed unblievers, many of them hostile and rude. Do you know the method Paul used each time? His personal testimony.

Questions: Are you prepared to share a short testimony with someone in order to tell them how you came to believe?

Prayer: Help me to share how you have worked in my life so I can testify of your love.

Action: Pray, then share with someone what God has done in your life and how they can have this new life too.

DAY 17Sharing Our Hearts

Ezekiel 36:26 (NIV) I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

Hebrews 13:16 (NLT) And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

Questions: How can you share your heart with those around you today? What is in your heart?

Prayer: God, you have given me a heart that is sensitive to those around me. Help me take action.

Action: Share your heart with someone who needs to hear it. Risk sharing it with someone close, or maybe someone unexpected in your life. You could share by sending a text, email or letter, or by speaking in person.

DAY 18Sharing Our Homes

Acts 2:46 (NIV) Every day they continued to meet togeth-er in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.

Hebrews 13:1-2 (NCV) Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. Remember to welcome strangers, because some who have done this have welcomed angels without knowing it.

Questions: When was the last time you opened your home for a meal or to have someone stay overnight? Are you willing to give up your privacy to host someone in your home for a week to share your life with them?

Prayer: Show me how to be more hospitable and to share my home for meals and fellowship with the body at Living Streams—whether it is one couple, or one person, or a houseful for dinner, or letting someone who needs a place stay for a week. Let me be willing to share what you have given. Action: Invite someone into your home for fun, food and fellowship within the next month.

DAY 19Sharing the Word

Romans 10:17 (NLT) So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pene-trates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Questions: Have you shared the Good News with some-one recently? Have you used the Word to rebuke, correct, teach, or encourage someone in the Body? (See 2 Timothy 4:2)

Prayer: Prompt me as to when I need to minister your Word to someone this week.

Action: Share God’s Word this week, when appropriate, with those inside the Body, and with those who don’t yet know the Lord.

DAY 20Sharing Your Wisdom

Proverbs 12:15 (ESV) The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.

God has given some of us years of wisdom and knowl-edge. But we have never shared it with someone younger than us. It is a biblical principle for the older to share with the younger.

Questions: Are you willing to share your life with someone younger than you? Will you overcome a fear of rejection, to see God use what you may take for granted? Do you realize you are a reservoir of wisdom?

Prayer: You have given me wisdom in certain areas. Let me share my experience and the things I have learned from my mistakes.

Action: Approach someone younger in experience and age and offer to meet for coffee and talk about how you might pour into their life for a period of time this year.

DAY 21Sharing Our Lives

1 Thessalonians 2:7-8 (NIV) ... Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.

Questions: What would it look like for you to share your life with someone? How can you lend someone a hand?

Prayer: As I share you in word, Lord, help me to also give of my life with those I meet each day.

Action: Be on the lookout for those things that you can share that are not that evident. You may be taking them for granted.
