MONDAY

Science Exploration with BioBusInquisitive young scientist are invited to take there science exploration to the next level while working side by side with professional scientists. Students will learn to become stewards of their environment. They will collect and observe the microscopic world around them. They will start to experience the world with new eyes. Additionally, Students will be encouraged to make their own hypotheses and design their own experiments. We will end the trimester with a field trip to the BioBase a state-of-the-art research laboratory.DAILYFEE$425+WORKSHOPFEE$300=$725

Comic Book Creationsinstructor: Nicole ParcherCalling all comic book lovers! Make your own comic book, using your imagination to create heroes and villains with untold super powers. Basketball Stars of NYBasketball Stars are back at Friends to provide you with the best basketball instruction from the top coaches in the city! Join our after-school program and learn how to play the game the right way while participating in weekly games. The program is carefully constructed to teach you the right way to shoot, defend, rebound and much more. Coaches from Basketball Stars include former Division 1 college players. TUESDAY Lego Robotics with TEKintellectStudents learn to design and construct original, mechanized models from Lego® components. They receive instruction regarding the scientific principles embedded in the models, and then proceed quickly to a fun, hands-on, multi-sensory experience, in which they construct the models and play with them. Carousels, cranes, dune buggies, conveyer belts, windmills and more will come to life in your child’s hands, through their own effort and ingenuity! At the end of the

Clay Worldinstructor: Jorge Cruz, Character SculptorUsing special modeling clay, instructors from Miami Beach’s Clay World will help students create figurines of animals, people, monsters and more! All creations built during class can be taken home. You must go to clayworld.org to see for yourself some of the creative projects to come! DAILYFEE$425+WORKSHOP$350=$775

Ramp Jamsinstructor: Kevin Banahan, Skate YogiSkate Club returns, and whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, there’s room for you to rip it up on the roof at Friends. For beginners, we will cover the basics of skateboarding such as balance, pushing off, and kick-turns—no prior experience necessary. For the more advanced, we will have an array of ramps and rails where you can learn to drop in, pump the transitions and slash the coping. On bad weather days, we will train indoors using Vew-Do balance boards to develop strength and refine technique as well as watch instructional videos featuring the pros talking skills and demonstrating favorite tricks. Get Fit with FAT! Girls Only!instructor: Lindsey K Yacobush, Certified Fitness Instructor"Get Fit with FAT" is an energetic introduction to the fundamentals of fitness and strength training for young girls. The class covers circuit training, strength training, cardiovascular endurance conditioning and overall body awareness using multiple modalities and training equipment. It's never too early to teach the young women of today how important and esteem boosting it is to be strong, healthy, fit and confident all in a nurturing environment! Mold Makinginstructor Nora Chavooshian, ArtistIn this class we will multiply our creativity by making molds of our 3D work. We’ll take molds of our art, found objects from home and nature, and anything we can think of. Then we’ll pour into our molds a variety of materials from plaster to edibles like chocolate. We’ll make toys, permanent artwork and edible artwork and even create a 3D community mural as a class project where each student will create a piece of a larger mural and cast it twice so one piece stays in school as a part of the whole mural and the other piece goes home to be enjoyed by family and friends.DAILYFEE$425+WORKSHOPFEE$195=$620

Team Handball BSNYFATsters come join us for the most face paced game on a hardwood floor called Team Handball. It’s a mix of soccer, basketball, hockey and lacrosse. In this class you will learn skills like passing, dribbling, team concepts, team strategies and much more. Child’s Play NY: Shakespeare in Play A theatre class that introduces young people to Shakespeare's dramatic masterpieces in a way that is accessible, enriching and fun. As part of the Shakespeare Ensemble, students will learn the plot of several famous plays and act out the salient points through long-form improvisations. They will work on monologues and scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, Macbeth, and Romeo and Juliet. In addition to being a great scene study/monologue class, the student are instilled with cultural and literary references from the wisdom of these plays that they will utilize for years to come. Games surrounding the characters and their incredible conflicts, desires and stories make the class a joyous exploration of both theater and Shakespeare. DAILYFEE$425+WORKSHOPFEE$250=$675

Dodgeballinstructor Jacob Abrams, Average JoeFinally, a sports game for the masses! Chorusinstructor Joanna Pickett, Choral DirectorCome, sing! This is an opportunity for motivated, enthusiastic singers and vocalists to explore more challenging choral material. With enough participation, part singing will be introduced, along with popular songs and special youth-oriented choral arrangements.
