Father Carlos Rodriguez, who served at St. John Chrysostom parish in the Bronx for 17 years, died Dec. 15. He was 64.
Father Rodriguez served at St. John Chrysostom as pastor, 1999-2014, and administrator, 1997-1999. He was administrator of Holy Cross, the Bronx, 2014-2015.
He was a chaplain for the New York City Police Department, 2002-2018.
Father Rodriguez also was paro-chial vicar in the Bronx at Blessed Sacrament, 1988-1997, and St. Marga-ret Mary, 1987-1988.
Cardinal Dolan will offer the Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Church, the Bronx, Friday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. Father Christopher Berean, pastor of St. Mary of the Snow-St. Joseph in Saugerties, will deliver the homily.
Father Rodriguez and Father Ber-ean entered St. Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie together in 1983, and both were ordained in 1987 by Cardi-nal John O’Connor.
“We couldn’t have come from two more different worlds,” Father Berean told CNY. “He came from the South
Bronx. I grew up in New Windsor, and it was a tiny little town when I was a kid.
“We always laughed at how we became friends. We both had a sense of humor and liked being around each other. We can joke around about our backgrounds. He loved teaching me ways of the city and I would teach him
being from a farming town in upstate New York. We shared our worlds with each other.”
Father Berean said Father Rodri-guez, whose family was from Puerto Rico, always made certain to cele-brate the different Hispanic heritages at his Bronx parishes, and enjoyed his visits to the Hudson Valley and being a NYPD chaplain.
“The thing he loved most was be-ing a police chaplain,” Father Berean said. “It was an amazing thing to see how dedicated he was. He just truly loved it.”
Father Berean last visited Father Rodriguez in August at the Edward Cardinal Egan Pavilion in the Bronx.
“I spent a couple of hours with him. We had a wonderful time together,”
said Father Berean, who spoke to Father Rodriguez a few days before his death.
Father Rodriguez, a native of the Bronx, graduated from Rice High School in Harlem. He earned an as-
sociate’s degree in liberal arts from Elizabeth Seton College, Yonkers, and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Manhattan College.
Burial will be in St. Raymond Cem-etery, the Bronx.

Sister Enid Storey, P.B.V.M., who taught at St. Jude’s School in the In-wood section of Manhattan and Holy Rosary School, the Bronx, died Dec. 4 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Newburgh. She was 78.
Sister Enid taught at St. Jude, 1971-1977, and Holy Rosary, 1965-1968. She also taught at St. Bartholomew, Yonkers, 1968-1971, and in Rockaway Beach, Queens, and Clifton, N.J. She did parish ministry at St. Clare of As-sisi, the Bronx, 1989-1997.
In the 1980s, she was a nurse at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, and Metropolitan Hospital in Manhattan.
She served the poor at The Dwelling Place in Manhattan, a homeless shelter
for women, 1997-2005, and at a social service agency in New Orleans, 2005-2016. After returning to New Windsor in 2016, she served as congregational archivist and service grant writer.
Born in Corona, Queens, she en-tered the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1959 and made final vows in 1967. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Seton Hall University, a master’s in education from SUNY New Paltz, and a master’s in nursing from Pace University. She was formerly known as Sister Mary Noel.
A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 9 at Mount St. Joseph Chapel, New Windsor. Burial was at Mount St. Joseph Cemetery there.
