Commander’s Brief We had a delightful meal and installation ceremony at our February 2 COW. D/Lt/C Lynn Dail presided over our ceremony. A big thanks to all who could attend and make this a spe-cial time for each inductee and for those who won FSPS special awards for their contribu-tions to our squadron during 2018. Each person’s contribution makes our squadron a unique family experience as we attempt to help promote boating safety and skills to our community and to meet the needs of our membership. A big thank you to each member and their commitment to our squadron.

The main bridge will meet on March 5 to create a calendar of events for the 2019 ac-tivities and meetings for FSPS. If there are any events or items you wish to include in our monthly calendar, please let me know. THIS YEAR in May we will celebrate 50 years since our founding. Let’s get together and have a special celebration of the successes of FSPS. Send your ideas to any of our main bridge or show up to one of our meetings. We only have a few months to plan this event!

Tom Carpenter shared this video of fly fishing for shad through the Pechmann NC Wildlife Center with Healing Waters. Fly Fish-ing at Fort Bragg with Project Healing Waters released the Marabou Madness on their YouTube Channel for everyone to see. Enjoy!

Reid Gantt states: In January, I asked West Marine if they were going to continue to provide discount coupons for safety gear (The previous coupons had expired). These have been useful when discuss-ing / conducting Vessel Safety Inspections.
Response: Yes, we are proud to continue our partnership with the USPS and USCGA! A new coupon has been con-figured that has an end date of 12/31/20. It will be posted on the national websites for each group. Attached is a copy.

I have creat-ed a copy below to show you what the registration form looks like and the cost of just attending during the day on Saturday or if you plan to stay for the entire weekend and/or partake in some meals.
