The main bridge will meet on March 5 to create a calendar of events for the 2019 ac-tivities and meetings for FSPS. If there are any events or items you wish to include in our monthly calendar, please let me know. THIS YEAR in May we will celebrate 50 years since our founding. Let’s get together and have a special celebration of the successes of FSPS. Send your ideas to any of our main bridge or show up to one of our meetings. We only have a few months to plan this event!

Reid Gantt states: In January, I asked West Marine if they were going to continue to provide discount coupons for safety gear (The previous coupons had expired). These have been useful when discuss-ing / conducting Vessel Safety Inspections.

Response: Yes, we are proud to continue our partnership with the USPS and USCGA! A new coupon has been con-figured that has an end date of 12/31/20. It will be posted on the national websites for each group. Attached is a copy.

NEWS FROM NATIONAL: February This month we have a suggestion from Membership Chair R/C Bob Howd, SN-CN:

“Have you ever queried those that do not renew? Maybe there is a fixable reason. Check out the short questionnaire under membership forms.” See it below or you can go to the membership forms section on the USPS website.

Squadron Non-Renewal Survey Squadron Name: Date:

Please summarize these statistics for non-renewals:

Total # members now: Total # non-renewals

Highest Grade S/P AP/JN/N

Reasons for joining Squadron/USPS? How Many Educational Classes

Cruise and Rendezvous

Social Programs

Boat Insurance

Other

Specific reasons for not renewing

How Many

No longer own boat or interested in boating

Lack of friendliness or interaction from members

Busy (Other outside activities compete for time)

Not enough boating activities

Meeting locations

Lack of variety at meetings/speakers

Lack of participation opportunities

Business, family interference, or personal

Health problems or death

Dues increase or financial difficulties

Please solicit and forward any recom-mendations for improvement or addi-tional USPS benefits. Use the reverse of this form or additional sheets for other comments. Please use legible handwriting or print.

This is an informal survey seeking ways in which we can improve or make it more desirable to be a member of USPS. Reasons for non-renewal will not necessarily equal the total number of member non-renewals.

If you plan to attend the District 27 Spring Conference, it is easier to go to the website and download and fill out the paperwork from there. I have creat-ed a copy below to show you what the registration form looks like and the cost of just attending during the day on Saturday or if you plan to stay for the entire weekend and/or partake in some meals. Forms for hotel reservations and other points of interest can also be found on the website.
