Among the new trends in kitchen islands are “peninsulas”, which are oversized islands with one end attached to a wall, allowing circulation on three sides. They offer lots of storage space and can accommodate a dishwasher or a wine fridge. Renovating for twoWhen the decision is made for your significant other to move in with you, the organization of the living space sometimes has to be rethought.

The living room is often the easiest area to adapt. A love seat and two comfortable armchairs are enough to meet all your needs.

The bedroom can be more problematic as there is often not enough storage space for two people. So a new wardrobe and space for another chest of drawers could require an enlargement of the room. Most kitchens are as suitable for two people as they are for one. However, if space is sufficient and you have a mutual love for cooking, you could reorganize the kitchen in order to improve

traffic flow when preparing meals.

From a practical point of view, you may want to make a few changes to the bathroom, so be sure to take this opportunity of adding additional storage space. In general, one large piece of furniture will offer the most storage but a combination of smaller pieces will offer more flexibility. For a small bathroom, think about having a combined bath and shower rather than separate ones. A shower for two, with a double cabin and two shower heads is very practical if you both have to get ready at the same time in the morning. If you love to share intimate moments of relaxation in the bath, choose a comfortable, ergonomic style such as an asymmetric corner tub for two people sitting side by side. Or how about a rectangular model in which you can lie next to each other. Don’t forget, however, that the larger the bath the more it will cost in hot water. And if space allows, why not add an extra bathroom?
