OUTLOOK

Indian markets ended on a flat note led by the FMCG, real-

ty, and power stocks.

Nifty closed at 8809.35 up by 3.85 points or 0.04percent

over the previous day closing of 8805.50 after witnessing a

low of 8793.40 and a high of 8870.10. Sensex closed at

29135.88 up by 40.95points or 0.14percent over the previ-

ous day closing of 29094.93.It touched an intraday low of

29083.40 and high of 29325.35.

The markets’ breadth was negative. Out of 3013 stocks

traded 1280 stocks advanced, 1640 stocks declined and 93

stocks remained unchanged. In Sensex, Out of 3 0 stocks 15

stocks advanced and 15 stocks declined.

Among the sectors, BSE FMCG, BSE Realty and B S E Pow-

er were the main gainers of the day which increased by

1.79 percent ,0.97 percent and 0.61percent respectively.

In BSE FMCG sector, ITC, Nestle and HUL increased by

3.04percent, 1.75percent and 1.62percent respectively. In

BSE Realty sector HDIL, Phoenix Mills and Indiabulls Real

advanced by 6.90percent, 4.47percent and 1.54percent. In

BSE Power sector Suzlon energy, ABB and Alstom T&D

increased by 19.84percent,4.95percent and 3.65percent

respectively.

Indian markets likely to be rangebound till Union Budget

and we reckon it would gain momentum post the outcome of

the budget. However global socio-economic and political

issues may influence the Indian markets. Stock specific ap-

proach seems to be the prudent way. India’s January WPI

inflation came at –0.39%. We expect Tata Power, NTPC,

IL&FS Transport, L&T, HCC, SAIL to remain strong during

the week. Also, companies in the Life Insurance segment

may witness renewed buying on value unlocking. Max India,

ABNL, Tube Investments, Exide, Dabur may gain on this

theme. Increase in crude oil prices from bottom may

strengthen oil producing and ancillaries companies like Cairn

India, Aban Offshore during the week.

Private sector lender Yes Bank today said it will foray into mutual fund business next fiscal through organic or inorganic

route.

"There is a plan to enter into asset management business organically or inorganically... to what extent there is opportunity

we will explore," Yes Bank Managing Director and CEO Rana Kapoor told PTI.

Initially, he said, Rs 50 crore has been earmarked by the board for the business.

The asset management company will also complement the bank's retail strategy and help in leveraging existing infrastruc-

ture to provide the necessary retail thrust, he said.

This will allow the bank build a holistic wealth management proposition for its customers and enable the bank to strength-

en traction witnessed in building retail market share on the back of its savings account proposition, he added.

Presently, there are 45 mutual fund houses in the country with asset under management about Rs 12 lakh crore.

The fund houses had an average AUM of Rs 11,81,356 crore at the end of January 31, up from Rs 10,51,343 crore in De-

cember-end.

In November, mutual funds assets base stood at Rs 10.90 lakh crore.

Mutual fund is an investment vehicle that is made up of a pool of funds collected from many investors for the purpose of

investing in securities such as stocks, bonds, money market instruments and similar assets.

Meanwhile, Yes Bank in the first Renewable Energy Global Investors Meet here made a commitment for funding 5,000

MW of renewable energy projects.

The funding would be done over a period of next 5 years and it would be between Rs 20,000-25,000 crore.

Yes Bank has also made a commitment of funding clean energy projects at the United National Climate Change Summit

2014.

Meanwhile, the bank has bagged AIMA RK Swamy High Performance Brand Award 2014. The award recognized brands

for their influence on business metrics which is assessed using financial data.
