What a great January we had. The New Year’s Day Open House was a success and we want to thank all that attended. The Cookie Contest was not so successful with only three entries. But those three delicious entries were big winners as far as we were concerned if only two were awarded the prizes. Thanks go out to the judges and all who came and sampled the tasty entries.

This month I would like to honor the ladies of the Taste of Walden Woods Pot Luck. For more than three years on the first Wednesday of each month, these ladies have organized the event and provided everyone the opportunity to have some good food prepared by some great cooks. A very special thank you to Marilyn Johnson, Connie Green and Daryl Bevers for their continuing dedication and hard work. Also thanks to all the volunteer helpers who assist Marilyn, Connie and Daryl. If you have not yet had the opportunity to come to the TOWW, you are missing some great food. The February TOWW will be held on the 1st. A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the North Clubhouse. We hope to see you there.

February will be a fun month. We have scheduled a digital scavenger hunt on Ground Hog Day and I have it from a reliable source, you might even come across a ground hog. Get a team together and have some fun.

We are planning two special dinners in February for your pleasure. Walden Woods Limited Homeowners’ Association – From the President Welcome to February and Valentine greetings to all! The HOA boards met with management officials from Sun Communities on Tuesday Jan.10. Issues discussed were the new building and what progress has been made regarding permits (everyone is hopeful that it will be started soon), improving communication with the HOA Boards and residents, and new projects for 2017. Just a reminder, if you have not renewed your HOA membership now is the time, we need all the members we can get. A strong HOA sends a message to Sun ownership that the residents care and are involved in our community. This will be the last time that Norm Bergeron will be the coordinator of the annual auction. We need someone to take his place coordinating this great fundraiser for Walden Woods. We ask that anyone interested please sign up. We all thank Norm for all the time and effort he donated for this event for the past 5 years. The next months will be the most active time for events here in the community. Please support the Social Club by attending the events. Volunteers in the community that help with social events, HOA boards, and all of the helpers donate hours of their time serving the residents of Walden Woods. Please support us in any way you can. REMINDERS: 15 MPH speed limit and clean up after your pets. If you see something that isn't right, say something.

Nick Fleischer, President LTD HOA 724-996-8074

Walden Woods North Homeowners’ Association – From the President Have you ever asked yourself why I should join the HOA? This is what the HOA does for you. 1. Represents the concerns of all residents of Walden Woods. 2. Works closely with park manager and park owner to maintain the quality of living that we all expect at Walden Woods. 3. Monitors the actions of our legislators through our state and national organizations...FMO and NMHOA. 4. Processes grievances for residences who feel there has been a violation of the prospectus. 5. Negotiates our trash and recycling contract. 6. Verifies that annual lot rent increases are in compliance with the prospectus and lease agreement. 7. Makes improvements to park facilities that benefit all residents. 8. Acts as liaison between the park manager and residents. At the present time less than 25% of the home owners in Walden Woods North belong to the HOA. The HOA is only as strong as its membership. The HOA cannot work for you if you are not a member. If you are interested in joining or renewing your membership for 2017 to the HOA there is still time. Please contact President John Simmons at 352-503-2500 or Treasurer Rodney Moyher at 352-503-6236 or you can join the HOA at our next meeting on February 14, 2017. Your membership in the HOA demonstrates your support of our efforts for our community. John Simmons HOA President [email protected] 352-503-2500

B‘s Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Hello February. You’ve arrived so soon !!!! We are starting a new system for any tree requests. We will have USA Tree Service in the Community around the 15th of each month to look at tree concerns. If you have any, please submit your request before the 15th. With guidance from the USA Tree, it will be determined if the tree is healthy. Management can then determine who is responsible for the work that needs to be done, if any. If we are responsible, we will then schedule the work. If we are not responsible, we will get a quote for you and you can schedule the work with USA Tree Service or any vendor of your choice. However, all vendors must have proper insurance before work can begin. Any requests received after the 15th will be looked at the following month. WATER BILLS - We understand that NOBODY likes receiving a water bill, and ALMOST everybody does get one is surprised by it. If you would like to learn how to read your meter to avoid these unpleasant surprises, either Lisa or Terrie would be more than happy to teach you. An informed, proactive resident will see when they are using more water than usual and can then investigate the cause and fix the problem before it causes those unwanted and often preventable bills. HOUSE NUMBERS AND EMERGENCY SERVICES - If you had to call 911 would emergency vehicles be able to find your house? The answer might be a terrifying NO if your house numbers are not clearly visible. If you have missing numbers, please replace them; if you have foliage covering your numbers, please trim it. We don’t want any sad stories due to a very easily fixable problem.

    Walden Woods Pig Roast

What a super job our Canadian friends and their helpers did on the Pig Roast January 14. They took over the whole project and gave the Social Club a break.

    In Memoriam

    Rosalie A. Young

Rosalie A. Young died peacefully on January 3, 2017, after a long illness. She was born near Buffalo in East Aurora, NY where she lived most of her life. In 1964, she married George Young. After the death of her husband, she moved to Homosassa where she met her significant other, Jerry Pinkston. Rosalie is survived by two sisters-in-law, a sister, and five nieces and nephews. She loved playing bingo and cards. We will all miss her for her beautiful smile and keen sense of humor.

The Ltd Social Club sponsored a Christmas Light Contest held just before Christmas. The judge was not a Walden

Woods resident and knew no one in the park.

The winners were, first place of $50.00, Jim and Ethel O'Boyle on Ashcroft Dr. (no surprise), 2nd place of $25 went to Al and Shirley Perras of Cadbury Terrace and 3rd place of $15, went to the Dolders of Forest Circle.

    Congratulations everyone.
