Make It So!“Make It So!” is a core value at Bit-Wizards. Many consider Star Trek’s Captain Picard the quintessential, new age leader in contrast to Captain Kirk’s devil-may-care approach, ”Damn the Torpedo’s, Full Speed Ahead!” At Bit-Wizards, “Make It So!” is meant not as a command. Instead, we intend to instill a bias towards action by our team.

During my installation as Chair, one statement I said resonated with many of you. ”To run a successful business, you have to have relentless persistence, embrace change, be willing to take risks, and have a bias towards execution.”

Execution is critical. It separates ”talkers” from ”doers.” There is no doubt the people in the Greater Fort Walton Beach Cham-ber of Commerce are “doers.” We execute!

During January, “The Chamber” is “Making It So!” and taking action to enhance the schools in Okaloosa County. We have partnered with community-minded businesses and the Destin Chamber of Commerce to offer our support and “Lead the Chaaarrge!” (Matt Turpin) on a much needed half-cent tax to revitalize our schools.

Michelle Anchors (Anchors & Gordon) and Barbara Britt (Barbara Britt LLC), are at the front of our business community-led effort. They are serving as the spokespersons for our campaign “School Cents Make Sense.” Barbara serves on my executive committee, was a career educa-tor, and is a retired Okaloosa County teacher. Michelle is a passionate advocate for making our community and quality of life exceptional.

Ranking #4 in the state, our schools produce superior educational results. OCSD is one of only three school districts in the state to earn an A in the past six years. From an operations and maintenance standpoint, the school district is lean and mean.

Unfortunately, for the better part of 40 years, there has been little to no capital investment. Our school infrastructure and facilities are falling apart. In the wake of the tragic events at Parkland, the Florida Legislature has mandated the hardening of school facilities, as well as other security enhancements. They have done so without adequately funding those capital improvements. As a technology professional, I cringe every time I look at the dated technology utilized in our classrooms. I know, because my wife is a teacher. I have seen it first hand. The need for the half-cent school tax is dire.

From the 2019 Audited Financial Statements for the OCSD:

“School facility hardening has become a critical need in order to en-sure student safety. As a result, it has become the number one priority for most school districts, placing a tremendous demand for capital out-lay dollars. In addition, the District’s capital maintenance requirements are significant since approximately 40 percent of its facilities are more than 50 years old and another 40 percent are more than 40 years old. The District continues to experience consistent student growth while receiving virtually no increase in capital outlay funding. As a result, ad-equate capital outlay funding continues to be of great concern to the District.”

The condition of Okaloosa County Schools is a problem for our businesses. Schools are eco-nomic drivers. At a national level, there have been many scholarly studies based on actual data that demonstrates better schools yield a higher GDP. At a local level, having high-quality schools that meet the needs of the 21st Century is paramount to our economy. A community

We are The ‘Changers’ of CommerceAt a recent Ribbon cutting—attended by 20 or so of our green jacketed Ambassadors--Board member, and fun-loving owner of Painting With a Twist (850-226-7218/www.paintingwithatwist.com/studio/fort-walton-beach) David Presnell told me that we are The ‘Changer’ of Commerce—more than a Chamber of Commerce. Wow!--we need to trademark that one.

And David is so right. Our organization is attempting to not only make our members successful, but also our community and county. Our 2020 Chair Vince Mayfield, in his inaugural address at our January 2020 installation banquet stated: “The National

Federation of Independent Business and the US Chamber of Commerce state that businesses that are involved in their community are more successful and have more growth. I believe a rising tide floats all boats. If we make our community great, that will, in turn, have a positive effect on our businesses and our future generations.”

Vince—and all our Board members—are great examples of the differences between “lead-ing an organization” and “leading change in a community.” David Brown, the Chairman of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, wrote it perfectly in his summer 2019 “From the Chairman” article entitled “Chambers as Change Agents."

“I believe the chambers of commerce are the logical place where community leadership and community building begin and endure. History has shown that chambers out last city/county/regional/state and federals leaders who come and go on the whim of voters. Chambers engage leaders from the business community who are willing to use the power of influence and checkbooks to get things done. Chambers are the place where disparate groups are con-vened—where goals are set—where collaboration can be planned and executed.”

We are the Changers of Commerce in our Community. We are going to change Okaloosa County. David Brown continues: “I much prefer to be the instigator of change than the recipi-ent of change being forced upon me.”

I want to thank both Davids for seizing the words that our organization has lived now for the past decade plus—yet I could not verbalize as perfectly as they each did. But I can assure you we can use their words as a template for our future. Next project; School Cents Makes Sense. Time for us to make another change in Okaloosa County!

ROUND OF APPLAUSE

MEMBERS MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

Many local children are alive today because of the work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and their families joined the radio station last week for “St. Jude Rocks.” The ra-diothon took over the airwaves of 99ROCK/WKSM on Thursday and Friday, December 12th and 13th. 99ROCK listeners and local busi-nesses, including Step One Automotive Group, pledged $32,320 to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Entertainer Danny Thomas founded St. Jude in 1962 with the dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” St. Jude Children’s Re-search Hospital is the single largest center in the United States for the research and treat-ment of pediatric cancer and other childhood catastrophic diseases. Numerous local chil-dren have been treated and continue to re-ceive follow-up treatment at St. Jude. Families never pay for treatments that are not covered

by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.

99ROCK/WKSM, along with other Cumulus Media radio stations, hosted radiothons for St. Jude over the past two weeks. The efforts gen-erated over $1.1 million dollars for the hospital.

For more information about “St. Jude Rocks,” call 99ROCK/WKSM at 850-243-2323.

99ROCK's Listeners Fight Children's Cancer

On December 12th and 13th, 99ROCK/WKSM dedicated their radio airwaves to raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during “St. Jude Rocks.” 99ROCK listeners and local businesses, includ-ing Step One Automotive Group, donated $32,320 to help fight childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases. HCA Healthcare’s North Florida Division Invests More Than $305M In Panhandle Hospital Improvements Since 2015

Heading into 2020, patients in our area will have access to larger, newer, state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, thanks to expansions and upgrades at local hospitals.

Since 2015, our two HCA Health-care North Florida Division hospi-tals have invested in expansion and renovation projects totaling more than $305 million. The proj-ects have created an additional 116 inpatient beds and 48 emer-gency room beds for patients across the Panhandle. In total, patients in the Panhandle have access to 32 sites of care that in-clude 4 hospitals, 2 freestanding emergency rooms, 2 urgent care center/walk in clinics, 1 same day surgery center and 23 physician

practice locations. By the end of 2020, we will have opened an ad-ditional 3 free standing emergen-cy rooms in Pensacola, Panama City and Navarre.

The renovations include:

Fort Walton Beach Medical Center

* Sealed and repainted entire exterior of hospital * Renovated all patient units * Added two new state-of-the art Cath labs * Expanded its robotic surgical capabilities * Completed an expansion of its inpatient rehab center, followed by an ER and Trauma expansion and parking garage addition

* Relocated their Destin freestand-ing emergency room into a brand new facility* Slated to finish its second free-standing facility, Navarre ER, in late 2020* Recently unveiled plans for a new tower to add 24 medical/surgery inpatient beds and 18 ICU beds, an expansion to its parking garage, as well as building a new cafeteria and kitchen.* Projecting to add 90 full-time employees after new expansion is complete.

Niceville’s Twin Cities Hospital

* Completed an ICU expansion and renovation * Currently undergoing an ER

expansion

“Each of these projects reflects our commitment to ensuring resi-dents of the Panhandle always have access to outstanding qual-ity medical care when they need it most,” addedMichael P. Joyce, President, HCA Healthcare North Florida Division. “By creating additional access points and capacity, we look for-ward to serving more patients and acting as a resource and partner to these communities.”

is unlikely to have a vibrant economy when they have schools that are fall-ing apart, use old technology, have leaking roofs, and rely on portable classrooms. For 40 years, we have asked the schools in Okaloosa Coun-ty to bandaid our aging facilities in fa-vor of the status quo and lower taxes.

Nobody wants a collapsed locker room ceiling, leaking roofs, crumbling stadiums, portable classrooms, or an 82-year-old elementary school. There is little doubt that our hard-working teachers and students deserve better.

Local economies flourish when there are skilled and productive workers. It produces higher wages, economic mobility, and a better quality of life. We need a workforce now and in the future to sustain businesses in Oka-loosa County. We need happy, well adjusted, and well-educated chil-

dren who become adults that will live, work, and take part in our local economy.

School building conditions are clear indicators of investment in a commu-nity. This investment ultimately has the most significant effect on businesses in our area. Old, dilapidated schools that are falling apart send a message of underinvestment and lack of op-portunity in our area. This message goes out to key participants in the economic sustainability and vitality of our community. They include:

• Existing businesses• Businesses that are looking to move to our area• Potential professionals looking to move to our community• Entrepreneurs who are looking to start new businesses here in our com-munity

• Military looking to retire or separate from the service and remain in our area• Military leadership concerned about the sustainability of the military mission in our community

The condition of our schools is not a new issue. Continuous chatter about the state of our schools has been a topic of our community for the past fifteen years. Our response has been to tell the school district to “sharpen the pencil.” I submit, it takes little ef-fort to be a Monday Morning quar-terback or spout off as a Facebook warrior unarmed with real data and information.

The fact is that Florida has nation-ally received an F grade in its fund-ing of K-12 schools and ranks 43rd out of 50 states in per-pupil spending. From 2008-2015 the percentage of state funding in Florida per student,

inflation-adjusted, decreased 22.0%. Compared to 2008, adjusting for in-flation, Okaloosa Schools are asked to do more with even less. They are trying to squeeze water out of stone. Doing nothing is not an option. It is time for action.

The condition of our schools is a problem for business. It is a com-munity problem that ultimately af-fects our economy, and we are way overdue for investment. For all these reasons, “The Chamber” is taking on the half-cent tax for our schools with other partners in the commu-nity. Our Chamber is providing the leadership and advocacy to make a real impact today and tomor-row in Okaloosa County! Make it So!

Cox Charities Awards $20,000 to Gulf Coast Non-ProfitsCox Communications employees in the Gulf Coast Market have awarded $20,000 to local non-profits through the Cox Charities Community Investment grant pro-gram. Over 30 applications were received from local organizations seeking funding for various pro-grams. After much deliberation, Cox employees who serve on the Cox Charities Selection Commit-tee awarded the grants to the fol-lowing four organizations:

• United for a Good Cause (Fort Walton Beach) is using its grant to support Hope Squad, a school-based Peer-to-Peer Sui-cide Prevention program. Hope Squad empowers students to build connectedness, promote a kindness culture and to be re-sponders – to listen, ask the right questions, know the signs and tell a qualified adult. Many schools implementing this program have seen suicide rates drop significant-ly. United for a Good Cause has partnered with the national Hope Squad Program to help save lives

and families in our community. Seven out of 10 kids tell someone before they attempt suicide and it never gets reported. With this ed-ucational program, the “Squad” will learn how to help their peers get help.

• Arc Gateway (Pensacola) has been awarded a Cox Chari-ties grant for their L.I.F.E. pro-gram. L.I.F.E. provides a mean-ingful day activity for adults with disabilities that promotes skill ac-quisition and independence in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Daily activities include workplace read-iness, daily living skills, computer literacy, community inclusion, art and recreation, and much more. Program participants learn skills necessary to one day live and work independently in a safe set-ting.

• Junior League of the Emerald Coast (Destin) is an organization of women committed to promot-ing voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improv-

ing communities through the ef-fective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The JLEC will use Cox Charities funds to grow their Child Clothing Project by implementing the Child Clothing Closets initiative, providing chil-dren in need access to essential clothing year-round.

• Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer (Pensacola) empow-ers volunteers across the country to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research to find better treatments with fewer long-term side effects and, ulti-mately, cures. Childhood cancer is the #1 disease killer of kids in America, and research is severely underfunded on a national level. Organizations like Rally exist to fill that gap. The Cox Charities funds will be used for the organization’s Family Emergency Fund.Cox Charities is an internal giving campaign where employees can set aside a portion of their pay-checks to fund the local grants. Money donated by employees in

the Gulf Coast Market stays in the Gulf Coast Market. A committee of 13 employees reviewed over 30 applications and selected the re-cipients.

In addition to the Community In-vestment Grant, the Cox Charities Innovation in Education Program provides grants of up to $2,500 each to schools to fund class-room programs and curriculum that encourage and promote students’ ingenuity and imagina-tion through the innovative use of technology. Earlier in 2019, Cox employees awarded $10,000 to four local schools.

The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Board Installation and Awards Ceremony on Friday, January 3, at its First Friday Coffee. The event was sponsored by Tammy’s Journeys.

Step One Automotive Group was selected as the 2019 Business of the Year for many reasons, including their title sponsorship of Military Family Appreciation Day and the Billy Bowlegs Torch-light Parade. “Fernando Arellano and Maureen Bierman and their team moved into the commu-nity with a relentless desire to build partnerships that would leave a lasting legacy They believe that their employees are their greatest asset, and they empower them to be actively involved in their communities,” said Matt Turpin, 2019 Chair of the Chamber Board.

The Island, by Hotel RL, was chosen for the Busi-ness Revitalization Award. As Mr. Turpin noted, “In 2018 the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort began the enormous project of renovating their prop-erty, which was no easy task for the iconic desti-nation. The transformation of this beautiful prop-erty has enhanced the surrounding area; and with its new name, The Island by Hotel RL remains a property that generations of locals and visiting guests will enjoy for decades.”

The Hugh Kendall Community Impact Award, an honor given to an outstanding community volunteer, was presented to Ron Grissom, who was nominated by the Arc of the Emerald Coast. This nomination stated, “Ron has been the ‘go to guy’ at the Arc for over 11 years. He sits on the Board, works all fundraising events, and is a key organizer of our largest event, Burning Up the Beaches. He also sits on the board of the Emer-ald Coast Foundation and works the Poker Run tirelessly. He does all of this while still being in-volved in other organizations we well as being a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.”

Kim Denman of Gateway Payments was hon-ored as the Mert Wagner Volunteer of the Year in recognition of her volunteerism at Chamber and community events. Mr. Turpin said, “It’s easier to tell you about the one event that Kim doesn’t vol-unteer for – and that’s Dog Daze, because that event has always fallen on a college football Saturday. Kim dedicates her free time to serving others; she is always the first to say ‘I’ll be there, and I’m bringing one or two friends with me.’”

Paul Singleton was selected as Jim Glenn Am-bassador of the Year because of his long history of service to the Ambassadors. He attends al-most every Chamber event, and certainly every Ambassadors meeting. He always asks what he can do to help and he is genuinely appreciative of others.

During the festivities, the incoming Chair Vince Mayfield of Bit-Wizards introduced his Executive Board members Heather Ruiz of Destin Com-mons (2021 Chair Elect), Matt Turpin of Bank of England Mortgage (Immediate Past Chair), and Stephen Perkins of Warren Averett (Treasurer). The remaining Executive Committee members are: Barbara Britt (Barbara J. Britt), Gus Gusoff (Emerald Coast Harley-Davidson), Paul Stinebiser (Edward Jones Investment Advisors), Donna Ta-shik (The Arc of the Emerald Coast), and Bill Rob-erts (Barnes Insurance Services).

The incoming board members for 2020-2022 are: Melissa Allegretto (ERA American Realty), Mau-reen Bierman (Step One Automotive Group), Nic Dezinski (MAG Aerospace), Robin Donlon (BBVA), Lino Maldonado, Gordon King (Okaloosa Gas),

Brooke McLean (Air Force Enlisted Village), and Shervin Rassa (Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of the Em-erald Coast).

After issuing the year-end awards, 2019 Chair of the Chamber Board Matt Turpin of Bank of Eng-land Mortgage passed the gavel to 2020 Chair Vince Mayfield of Bit-Wizards, who shared his 2020 theme, “One Chamber – One Force for Community and Business.” During his remarks, Mr. Mayfield stressed the value of the Chamber as an organization that moves the community forward and that his relationship with Chamber members has helped him professionally and per-sonally throughout his four years as an “initially reluctant” Chamber member.

Are you a local business professional who would benefit by connecting with other local business pros? The FWB Young Professionals Committee is an opportunity for young professionals to form business relationships, learn from successful mentors and professional coaches, and yes… have a little bit of fun.

“What do you mean by ‘young?’ you might ask.” If you are age 40 or young-er then you are welcome to join. Many businesses have young profession-als in their organization, so if you as a business owner or manager are a

young individual OVER the age of 40, I encourage you to have one of your young team members represent your company at the meetings and social gatherings.

Last year the committee participated in Feed the Need with the United Way. There were exciting networking events – axe throwing at Ratchet Hatchet, food and games at Props and Enlight-ened Studios, and a Holiday Party with other local young professional groups at the Harbor Lounge in Destin. We also had great professionals provide success, motivation, leadership, and

communication education through-out the year.

This year, we are keeping the momen-tum going. The committee typically meets every third Friday at the FWB Chamber of Commerce from 11:30 to 1:00. Networking mixers will take the place of the monthly meeting. Check your FWB Chamber emails, the cham-ber website, or contact the cham-ber directly for more information on upcoming events. I hope to see you there!

Ambassadors| The Law of Reciprocity “You will get all you want in life if you help other people get what they want.” – Zig Zigler

The Ambassador’s, also known as the “Green Team” are here to help cham-ber members get the most out of their membership. You know what they say about helping others… it’s good for the

community, good for business, and it’s the right thing to do. The Ambassador’s committee provides the opportunity to help others and help your organiza-tion grow at the same time. Lead by example, be seen as an expert in your industry and grow your network with the Ambassadors. I always find myself saying to new members, if you want to

meet a lot of new people fast join this committee. We are shaking things up in 2020, stop in for a meeting and see how the “Green Team” can help your business stay in the green. We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the FWB chamber from 7:45 am to 9:00 am. Breakfast is provided.

Garden & Gun Magazine is one of the most popular magazines in the South East. It publishes 6 times a year with a total audience of 1.6 million. Its read-ers have an average household in-come of $370,800, take an average of 11 trips per year and 90% have an age of 35+. In other words, they are the perfect target for a visit to our area.

The current edition (February/March) recently started to be delivered to sub-scribers, hit the newsstands, and ap-peared on line. The back page shows one of our CVB’s new ads. It’s really quite stunning. Not only that, but the edition came bundled with a special booklet called G&G Jr., a vacation promotion aimed at travelers with kids - again our ideal target market. Our

ads are featured throughout the pub-lication, and we are also featured in the editorial content inside. Everything is stressing our identity as Destin - Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

This last point is important as those of us who have attended travel shows around the country and around the world over the past few years have become used to visitors not knowing where we are. There is often confu-sion when the term “Emerald Coast” was mentioned. As I pointed out last month, Emerald Coast can mean any-thing from Appalachicola to Pensaco-la and into Alabama. The really great news is that when attending recent travel shows, our CVB staff have found that visitors immediately ‘get’ exactly

where Destin- Fort Walton Beach is. The change to our branding and im-age is working already.

The next stage in the CVB’s program is to work with our local community, to involve them in the “Stewardship” of tourism in the area. Part of the change in approach is to recognize that what is good for our residents is good for our tourists. As a result the CVB is planning to hold meetings with us locals to get our input, suggestions, ideas and re-quests that can be used to hone our tourism stewardship so that there are benefits to us, and as a consequence, to our visitors. Expect to see meetings around March of this year.

It’s the month of love! Valentines Day became associated with love hun-dreds of years ago, and is a fun oppor-tunity to shower those you care about with flowers, candy and cards. Why just on the 14th? Why not share love every day of the year!

One of my favorite books, “The Great-est Salesman in the World” by Og Man-dino, changed my life. It’s the perfect read for everyone, whether in sales or not. Included are 10 Scrolls, each outlining basic principles of good-ness from which everyone can ben-efit. Scroll #1 explains how to use the scrolls. It was Scroll #2… ”I will greet

this day with love in my heart”...that had the most impact on me. Mandino placed it second for he calls love “the greatest secret of success in all ven-tures” because “the unseen power of love can open the hearts of people.”

I encourage you to take a moment and think about the people in your life whom you admire. What are you drawn to? For me, it’s traits that are love-driven, such as kindness, caring, giving, welcoming, others-focused, and trusting. When I meet someone while networking, I feel a connection to them when they exhibit these quali-ties. I want to help them and introduce

them to others. While you’re at net-working events, and doing life, do you open the door to connections with your warm and kind ways? Do you bless others with your smile, ask ques-tions to learn more about them, send referrals and share helpful informa-tion? Do you purposefully greet each day with love in your heart?

Mandino’s final words say it all: “I will love all humankind...If I have no oth-er qualities I can succeed with love alone. Without it I will fail though I pos-sess all the knowledge and skills of the world.” Wise advice to take to heart!

Get Ready for Military Family Appreciation DayMilitary Family Appreciation Day (MFAD) will be on Saturday, April 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the FWB Landing. The event is presented by ZT Motors of Fort Walton Beach, with support from the Military Affairs Committee of the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce.

The event will include a children’s play area with inflatables and fun activities for our young attendees. There will be military ser-vices exhibitors, and food and drinks and a variety of vendors. Throughout the day there will be drawings for incredible prizes! It’s a full day of family-friendly fun, including free lunch and free entertainment, designed to honor the service and the sacrifices made by military families and veterans throughout our area. We cannot organize this event without the support of sponsors and VOLUNTEERS. We try extremely hard to not rely on some of our very best volunteer resources – the military. This event is for them to en-joy a day with their families. Volunteers’ shifts are traditionally four hours. However if you can only commit to an hour or two, we would love to have your vol-unteer support! We need volunteers to help with: • Setting up the event in the morning• Serving food and drinks• Overseeing the kid’s inflatable area• Assisting with trash and grounds upkeep

If you know of an organization that might want to pick up the assignment of trash and grounds for a monetary donation. Please contact Rachelle (via the FWB Chamber – 850-244-8191) to get involved and support Military Family Appreciation Day. Thank you!

New 2019 Officers and Awards for the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Board Installation and Awards Ceremony on Friday, January 3, at its First Friday Coffee. The event was sponsored by Tammy’s Journeys.

2019 Business of the Year Step One Automotive Group was selected as the 2019 Business of the Year for many reasons, including their title sponsorship of Military Family Appreciation Day and the Billy Bowlegs Torchlight Parade. “Fernando Arellano and Maureen Bier-man and their team moved into the community with a relentless desire to build partnerships that

would leave a lasting legacy They believe that their employees are their greatest asset, and they empower them to be actively involved in their communities,” said Matt Turpin, 2019 Chair of the Chamber Board.

Business Revitalization Award The Island, by Hotel RL, was chosen for the Busi-ness Revitalization Award. As Mr. Turpin noted, “In 2018 the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort began the enormous project of renovating their property, which was no easy task for the iconic destination. The transformation of this beautiful property has enhanced the surrounding area; and with its new name, The Island by Hotel RL remains a property that generations of locals and visiting guests will enjoy for decades.”

Hugh Kendall Community Impact Award The Hugh Kendall Community Impact Award, an honor given to an outstanding community vol-

unteer, was presented to Ron Grissom, who was nominated by the Arc of the Emerald Coast. This nomination stated, “Ron has been the ‘go to guy’ at the Arc for over 11 years. He sits on the Board, works all fundraising events, and is a key organizer of our largest event, Burning Up the Beaches. He also sits on the board of the Emerald Coast Foun-dation and works the Poker Run tirelessly. He does all of this while still being involved in other organi-zations we well as being a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.”

New 2019 Officers and Awards for the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commercevolunteerism at Chamber and community events. Mr. Turpin said, “It’s easier to tell you about the one event that Kim doesn’t volunteer for – and that’s Dog Daze, because that event has always fallen on a college football Saturday. Kim dedicates her free time to serving others; she is always the first to say ‘I’ll be there, and I’m bringing one or two friends with me.’”

Jim Glenn Ambassador of the Year Paul Singleton was selected as Jim Glenn Ambassador of the Year because of his long his-tory of service to the Ambassadors. He attends almost every Chamber event, and

certainly every Ambassadors meeting. He always asks what he can do to help and he is genuinely appreciative of others.
