Seller Insight“Fenwood” has been our family home for just over 20 years and was the ideal location to raise our three children who

were all lucky enough to have their own bedrooms with rooms to spare and a large rear garden to safely play in. The excellent local schools are literally only a few minutes’ walk away as are the local amenities Whickham village offers.

Often feeling like a labour of love, we have sympathetically restored the house but always with an eye to retaining and enhancing its original features which include four Victorian fire places, cast iron slipper bath, the covings and staircases in addition to the multi fuel stove in the dining room. The framed and displayed original deeds give an insight into the interesting history of the house too.

Our home is especially warming at Christmas with the crackling real fire in the living room which easily lends itself to a 10ft tree. Santa Claus has a choice of more than six chimneys so placing the ginger wine and the carrot for Rudolph has to be planned ! .The rear garden is the ideal area to entertain friends and family on special occasions with ample room for marquees, tents and even bouncy castles.

Having been at sea, I was given carte blanche in the dining room, decorating and furnishing it with a nautical theme featuring an original clinker built fishing boat acting as a book case, a bespoke hand painted ceiling with an angelic cherub and original wooden shutters.

The rear garden offers tranquillity and a lovely place to chill. There is parking and turning for three cars at the front of the house with space for at least two more vehicles behind the driveway gates. The large garage is also ideal for further vehicle storage or man shed activities.

If we were asked to summarise our home in only three words – it really would be impossible, but the terms warm, spacious and inviting would jump to mind first.
