    In the following pages you will find the in-structions for use, which you are advisedto read through carefully and always keepwithin reach for prompt reference in thefuture.

    ADVICE

    Road safety

    You are advised to learn how to use thevarious radio functions (e.g.: storing sta-tions) before starting to drive.

    Reception conditions

    Reception conditions change constantlywhen driving. Reception may be disturbedby the presence of mountains, buildings orbridges particularly when far away fromthe station being listened to.

    IMPORTANT When receiving traffic in-formation, the volume may be higher thannormal.

    IIIINNNNTTTTRRRROOOODDDDUUUUCCCCTTTTIIIIOOOONNNN

    Too high a volume when dri-ving can put the drivers life at

    risk and that of other people. There-fore the volume should always be ad-justed in such a way that it is alwayspossible to hear the noises of the sur-rounding environment (e.g.: horns, am-bulance, police sirens, etc.).

    WARNING

    Care and maintenance

    The radio structure ensures long opera-tion with no need for particular mainte-nance. In the event of a fault, contact a Fi-at Dealership.

    To clean the front panel only use a soft,antistatic cloth. Cleaning and polishingproducts might spoil the surface.

    Carefully clean all Compact Discs of fin-gerprints and dust using a soft cloth. Sup-port Compact Discs from the outer cir-cumference and clean from the centreoutwards;

    Never use chemical products for clean-ing (e.g.: spray cans, antistatic or thin-ners) as they might damage the surfaceof Compact Discs;

    After use, put Compact Discs back intheir container, to avoid marks orscratches that may cause skipping whenplaying;

    CD

    Remember that dirt, marks or distortionon Compact Disc can cause skipping. Toobtain optimum playing conditions we givethe following advice:

    Only use Compact Discs which havethe following brand:

  • 3SOUN

    D SY

    STEM

    Do not expose Compact Discs to directsunlight, high temperatures or damp forprolonged lengths of time to preventthem from bending;

    Do not stick labels or write on therecorded surface of Compact Discs.

    To remove a Compact Disc from its con-tainer, press the centre and raise the disccarefully, holding it by the outer circum-ference.

    Always hold Compact Discs by the outercircumference. Never touch the surface.

    To remove fingerprints and dust, use a softcloth starting from the centre of the Com-pact Disc outwards.

    Do not use highly scratched, cracked, ordistorted discs, etc. The use of these discswill involve malfunctioning or damage tothe player.

    For optimal playing use original CDs on-ly. Regular operation is not guaranteed ifusing R/RW CDs not properly masteredand/or CDs with max. capacity higher than650 MB.

    IMPORTANT Do not use the protectivesheets for CD in commerce or discs withstabilisers, etc. as they might get stuck inthe internal mechanism and damage thedisc.

    IMPORTANT Should copy-protectedCDs be used, then, few seconds may berequired for playing them. Moreover, dueto the proliferation of always new and dif-ferent protection methods, it is not guar-anteed that the CD player can play what-ever protected disc. Copy protection is of-ten indicated on the CD cover in small let-ters or hard to read characters. Usuallyit is indicated by writings like: COPYCONTROL, COPY PROTECTED,THIS CD CANNOT BE PLAYED ON APC/MAC, or it is identified by symbolslike:

    Protected discs (and their cover) very oftenare not marked with the audio CD identi-fication symbol:
