Titanic Holdings Appoints Mamoru Tsuchiya as Non-Executive Chairman Tokyo Japan, 26 March 2021: Titanic Holdings, a leading Irish whiskey expert and distributor in Tokyo, has appointed Mamoru Tsuchiya as their non-executive chairman. Mr. Tsuchiya is one of Japan’s top whisk(e)y experts and chief representative of the Japan Whisky Research Centre (JWRC). He will bring a wealth of expertise and experience to help further expand the Irish Whiskey market in Japan. Mr. Tsuchiya started his career as a photojournalist, covering extensive topics from economics, politics and nature. In 1987 he served as editor-in-chief for a monthly magazine “Journey” when he visited Scotland and ran a feature on Scotch whisky. This first encounter eventually led Mr. Tsuchiya into pursuing a successful career as a whisk(e)y expert. In 1998, he was selected as one of the top five whisk(e)y writers by Highland Distillers. In 2001, Mr. Tsuchiya established an independent organization, Japan Whisky Research Centre (JWRC) in Tokyo. Today JWRC provides recognized education and qualifications for the whisk(e)y industry in Japan. Since 2019, JWRC runs the Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition which is the first spirits and whisk(e)y competition in Japan with over 800 entries from all over the world. JWRC also publishes Japan’s premier bimonthly printed whisk(e)y magazine, Whisky Galore. On his appointment, Mr. Tsuchiya said: “I am delighted to take on the role as non-executive chairman of Titanic Holdings. I am confident that this will be a cornerstone collaboration.
