I volunteered at MEAC (Madisonville Education And Assistance Center). A non profit organization that helps the people of the Madisonville area with food, clothing, money, living essentials, overall a helping hand. Others like yourself and I can help by

donating money , food , and clothing. Knowing that we helped a family , single mother or father is a great feeling in return. I

learned to not judge a book by its cover. MEAC was totally different than what I expected, MEAC has an up beat

environment, a very comfortable atmosphere. I love the lady’s and men that work there they really care about other peoples

well being . That really opened my eyes.

Volunteering at MEAC challenged to me think differently about people and the situations we all can be in such as losing jobs,

poverty, homelessness.

My outside volunteering experience was at MEAC where I actually volunteer. MEAC had a turkey basket giveaway and a

breakfast for everyone, games , and fun activity's for the children. Others can help by volunteering on special days

during the holidays and etc. The more help the more fun and less stress.

I helped watch the children while the adults ate and did activity’s I had a lot of fun playing and coloring with the kids. Its challenge for me ask the kids to be good for prize and it was challenging for them to listen to me. Overall I enjoyed

helping give out food that day I really seen the joy and happiness in peoples eyes. That made me happy as well on a

early Saturday morning.

OUTSIDE VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCE

My role in the student philanthropy grant was to research non-profit agencies and pick a agency I think deserve and could benefit from the

grant.

The grant process was extremely difficult to undertake so many different ideas and options everyone wanted the agency they choose to win. I really wanted MEAC a lady named Robin a MEAC volunteer is in

charge of the literacy program, which she started by herself and is teaching alone John P Parker children to read and has done a good job. Kids that are taught by her do great in the end. She would like to use the grant money for more supplies, fun things for the kids and more educational things. Ms. Robin is coming out of pocket to provide for

these kids so I really think her

Should get the grant money. But I’m also very happy the deaf institute one the grant because helping the deaf interact is very important.
