What does the Holy Qur’an say regarding Financial Sacrifices?

One of the surest ways for a Muslim to attain blessings and reward is to spend in the way of Allah. The Holy Qur'an says:

‘So fear Allah as best you can, and listen, and obey, and spend in His cause; it would be good for yourselves. And whoso is saved from his own covetousness – it is these who shall be successful. If you lend to Allah a good loan, He will multiply it for you, and will forgive you; and Allah is Most Appreciating, Forbearing,’

(64: 17- 18)

‘Never shall you attain to righteousness unless you spend out of that which you love; and whatever you spend, Allah surely knows it well.’ (3:93)

• To achieve righteousness, a believer must make sacrifices out of what he loves best, whether it is money, property or possessions.

The Ahmadiyya contribution system

The Ahmadiyya Movement is a spiritual organisation which is

not involved in any kind of worldly business.

Its activities depend solely on the donations of its

members.

Every project of the Ahmadiyya community , including Muslim

Television Ahmadiyya, construction of mosques, publishing of Islamic

literature, is funded by the financial sacrifices of Ahmadi Muslims.

Each time the Khalifat-ul Masih has announced a new scheme, men,

women, and children have rushed forward with donations of money, jewellery, and other possessions so that they may be blessed by Allah.

Types of contributions

Contributions made to the Community by its members are called ‘chanda’ and fall into different categories.

Some chandas are compulsory and some are voluntary. Some chandas have a fixed rate, while others have no limit; it is up to the donor to give what he or she can.

Some examples of ‘chanda’ are as follows: Zakat; Fitrana; Chanda Aam; Wassiyat; Jalsa Salana; Tehrik-e-Jadid; Waqf-e-Jadid; Auxiliary Organisation Membership; Sadqa; Eid Fund and Publications.

• Waqfe Jadid has expanded greatly and shows some amazing examples of financial giving. This scheme was initiated to support tarbiyyat and tabligh efforts in rural and far-off areas of Pakistan, but was later extended to the rest of the world. It still has specific objectives and certain areas/regions are designated to benefit from it. As such, only specific countries and regions are funded by contributions raised by Waqfe Jadid. Generally it is African countries and rural areas in India where Waqfe Jadid is funding many projects.
