Niles North Fine Arts Parents & Patrons

NNFAPP was incorporated as a not-for-profit charitable organization in 2000 with the primary purpose to foster, promote and expand community sup-port of the Niles North fine arts.

NNFAPP awards grants to students to enhance their skills in art, music, dance and theatre. These grants can be used for master classes, creative workshops, private lessons, outside ensembles and summer camps and programs. For more information, please visit www.nilesnorthfapp.com.

Niles West Music Parents Association

The Niles West Music Parents Associa-tion is the parent booster organiza-tion for the choir, band and orchestra programs at Niles West. The group provides reduced price private lessons for students in need, yearly scholar-ship awards for students and funds for projects outside of the scope of the school budget. The main fundraiser is the Pasta and Pops event held in May. For more information, contact [email protected].

Niles West Theatre Patrons

Niles West Theatre Patrons (formerly Niles West Theatre Parents) provides service and advocacy for the Niles West Theatre Department. The organi-zation provides theatre students with scholarships, tech and rehearsal meals, access to theatre-related events and more! The group welcomes donations or in-kind donations. BandStudents perform in Beginning Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Extracurricular opportunities for band students include Color/Winter Guard, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble and Pop n’ Rock.

OrchestraStudents in the orchestra may be placed in Begin-ning Strings, Concert Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra.

ChoirOfferings in choir include Choraliers, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Advanced Choir and Chorale (North). Extracurricular choirs are Echo Effect, High Fidelity and Guys & Dolls at Niles West and Soundcheck, Harmonic Motion, and Take One at Niles North.

VISUAL ARTS

Students may select courses like drawing/painting, ceramics, digital photography, advanced studio art, graphic design, art foundations and Advanced Placement studio art. Extracurricular opportunities for artists include Art Club, Graphic Art Club and Art Honor Society.

Artists created ceramic pieces that were then fired in the raku method, a traditional Japanese art form in which the pieces are taken from a hot kiln, placed in a reduction chamber, then cooled rapidly. The effect leads to crackling of the glaze, and iridescent luster in the pottery.
