HELICOPTER EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN PROCEDURES

Emergency Procedure 

Numerous agencies collaborated to provide the most up‐to‐date informa�on     regarding air frame specic shutdown procedures. 

U lize pilot and crewmember instruc ons rst If occupants are incapacitated, dead, or otherwise unable to provide direc�on this tool should be useful making the aircra� safer  to conduct emergency opera�ons. 

If occupants are incapacitated and the aircra rotors are s ll rota ng under power emergency responders can consider direc ng a stream or streams of water into the air intake of the aircra to drown and force

an engine shutdown.

Each airframe has different air intake manifolds but usually forward of the rotor mast on the top of the aircra�.

Depress Detent Bu�on Thro�le twist clockwise to off—matching strips 

Fuel Shut‐off 

Li� gate and move switch down to off.

Move Ba�er Switch up to off and Generator switch to center off.

From Pilot’s Seat Depress Detent Bu�on.  Twist thro�le clockwise where off aligns to mark.

Fuel Shut‐off 

Grab red round handle and pull towards the rear. 

Thro�le Lock 

Grab yellow handle pull slightly towards the door then to the rear.

Grab Orange handle and pull towards the rear. 

Ba�ery Power 

Push red bu�on 

Oxygen Shut‐off 

Grab T Handle at the rear inside of the pilot’s seat and pull up. 

Any bright orange handles will disengage the door it is a�ached to when pulled towards the rear.

Depress Detent Bu�on and move both levers a� to off markers 

Oxygen Shut‐off.  Either pull up Green Lever, Toggle Switch on control panel or in pa�ent compartment

EC‐145 Emergency Shut Down

Rotate both thro�les counter‐clockwise to idle.   

Depress red detents and nish rota�ng un�l off. 

From Pilot’s Seat 

 2 Fire Control—Fuel Shut off 

Li� red gates and depress both bu�ons. 

EC‐145 Emergency Shut Down 

Oxygen Shut‐off.  Either pull up Green Lever, Toggle Switch on control panel or in pa�ent compartment 

 3  Rotor Brake from pilot’s seat.  Li� up. 

Ba�ery Shut Off 

Turn screw un�l cable can be disconnected.

Rotate belt clockwise to open

Li� and turn knob to idle then li� and turn to off on both. 

Secondary Engine Shutdown—If Fuel shut‐off fails

Match Red Off Arrow with ver�cal arrow 

Li� Switch and move to center off posi�on 

Between two pilot seats under Velcro cover move switch down.  Oxygen cylinders are located through the a� door.
