* CALL TO WORSHIP From Ephesians 2 Leader: We were once dead through our trespasses and sins

when we followed the course of this world. People: All of us once lived to the passions and desires of

flesh and senses; Leader: But God, who is rich in mercy and full of great

love, made us alive together with Christ, when by grace we were saved.

People: So that in the ages to come God might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Leader: For by grace we have been saved through faith, not by our own doing, but by the gift of God.

People: For we are what God has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.

* OPENING PRAYER

HYMN OF PRAISE No. 295 In the Cross of Christ I Glory RATHBUN

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day He rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy

Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*universal * GLORIA PATRI GREATOREX

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,

Prayer requests can be submitted at downtownlex.org. THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our

daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us

from evil, for Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

OFFERTORY Grace Greater than Our Sin Don Phillips

* DOXOLOGY OLD 100TH Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above ye heavenly host;

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. SCRIPTURE READING Revelation 5, NRSV ANTHEM What Wondrous Love Is This Wendell Rider

What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul; What wondrous love is this, O my soul.

What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of Bliss To bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul;

To bear the dreadful curse for my soul.

When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down; When I was sinking down, sinking down;

When I was sinking down beneath God's righteous frown, Christ laid aside His crown for my soul, for my soul;

Christ laid aside His crown for my soul.
