First United Methodist Church First United Methodist Church exists to bring people to Jesus and membership in His church, help them to mature in Christ and grow in grace, and equip them to discover and to use their gifts in ministry in the church and in the world for the
glory of God.
You Are Responsible!
This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an
important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought
Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody
blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have.

Thank you so much Kathy Jones
for the hard work you did in painting the handicap parking
spaces in the parking lot.
Dear Patrons of the First United Methodist Church,
We would like to express our gratitude & gratefulness for all the well wishes, support & prayers you have shown to us during this difficult time battling this awful disease of cancer (Leukemia)
We cannot express how much it has meant to us.
Even though Holly’s part is finished we humbly ask that you continue the prayer vigilance for Kim…. for his fight continues and the hardest part of the battle has just begun.
Thank you all again! May the Lord bless you & keep you.

A little rain didn't hold us back from our Olympic game night on Sunday. We had the best time running through our obstacle course! I know those that watched had just as much fun as the ones who played. Thanks to those that helped with set up and clean up, too!In the spring we raised enough money to be able to pay in full for 12 kids to attend Camp Wesley Pines. What a blessing! Thanks to those of you who helped make it happen! Our last 2 campers are there this week. Please keep them in your prayers as they grow in their faith and make new friends. The Kouth (2nd-5th) will take a trip to the waterpark in Collins Wednesday, July 27th. If your child plans to go, please RSVP no later than the 25th. If you would like to chaperone, please let me know. Entrance is covered but you will need money for food and drinks throughout the day. We will meet at the church at 9AM and plan to return by 3PM.We will say, "Aloha", and wave the upcoming 6th graders goodbye as they head into Jr high youth with a pancake breakfast July 31st. To keep with tradition, our 3rd graders will receive bibles and we will recognize those moving to Jr high youth during the church service. At the beginning of the summer the kids were encouraged to open their bibles and read. They were given bible verses to read each week and a few to memorize. Everyone will have a chance to say, from memory, their bible verses on the 31st during our Aloha pancake breakfast during Sunday school.
Tears of joy or tears of sorrow, join us Sunday, August 7th for a Boo Hoo Breakfast as we get ready to start back to school. Our annual Blessing of the Backpacks will be held during the worship service on the 7th as well.Mark your calendars! WWW beings August 17th. Registration forms can be picked up Sunday.

Congratulations to Mamie, Myers and Alleigh for making it to State with their softball team last week!We are still cheering on Brayden and his team as they travel to Arkansas this weekend for the World Series!
Thank you so much to Mrs. Doyle Bradshaw and her family for the generous use of their passes to Gulf Islands Water Park. The junior high group had a great time sliding, splashing, and slowly drifting on
the Lazy River week before last. We even managed to work in a stop at The Rebel Dip for a sweet treat on our way home. There’s nothing that says summer MORE than water slides and dipped cones!
While Luke and Sam are at Wesley Pines this week, the junior high girls will get together with the senior high girls for a painting party filled with time for questions and answers on how to survive middle school and advice from the “Oh, I wish I had known” perspective of the senior high girls. Can’t wait to see some of the
questions! While the girls are painting, the senior high boys will be fishing; and the plan is to all get together after our individual activities. Summer is dwindling down, so let’s make the most of our last summer outings!
Parents of rising junior high youth, please get your surveys back so Youth Council can finalize plans for fall semester. We have many great things planned and can’t wait to see how we can best meet your programming needs! This group is going to be FUN to plan for…and I have a feeling it will be all hands on deck to do what needs to be done!
This Saturday evening we will travel to our last summer movie series showing of The Martian, and this will take the place of our Sunday evening youth programming. We’ll be seeing off some of our seniors for their LAST band camp at PRCC Sunday- good luck to Maggie and Jack as they prepare for the heat and exhaustion that characterize that week!!
Some of you might receive a phone call from our youth over the next week or so as we set up our service projects for Sunday, July 31st. And don’t be shy- if you have a job we can do, give me a call! We are happy to help!
