As the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (FKEE), it gives me
great pleasure to welcome you to graduate study at FKEE whether you are a current
student, or a prospective student considering an application.
FKEE has offered Master and Doctoral programmes since 2001 and continues to
enhance and develop the postgraduate degree offerings in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering fields. Besides research programmes, FKEE also offer Master by
coursework. At present, FKEE offer a diverse and unique range of Master and Doctoral
programmes. Each programme is designed to both enhance the professional and
personal development of its students to the graduate level of education favoured by the
stakeholders. Recently, we have 237 graduate students from over 13 countries
worldwide, with approximately 100 new students admitted every year.
At FKEE, we appreciate that a graduate programme is the next step in your professional
career, one that presents a challenge but also an opportunity. It better prepares students
for careers in academia, research or professions which require advanced study by
providing the training and qualifications desired by the job market. It is the ultimate aim of
FKEE to assist students in attaining their academic goals and possessing the specialty
knowledge, competencies and skills required for success in the chosen disciplines.
Students who thrive in our programmes are passionate about their subject. Many are
recognized for their scholarship, research and public engagement, and the substantial
contributions to their fields.
I personally look forward to meeting as many of you as possible and I wish you all the
best in achieving your professional goals.
Dr. Afandi bin Ahmad, Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.

You are basically joining one of the UTHM's largest and most vibrant postgraduate communities and, along with over 600 other research students, you will benefit from being a member of FKEE that combines a strong and proven track record of successful postgraduate support together with an internationally regarded research reputation. This handbook will help you to make the most of your time here and I hope that it will be of value to you both now as you start your postgraduate degree right through to your final year as you look towards submitting your thesis and sitting the viva voce examination (for research) or project presentation (for coursework). The length of a coursework master can vary from one and half years to three years. In addition, full time and part time enrolment are also available. Entry to most coursework master programme requires a bachelor degree. Work experience may also be required. The handbook also explains on specific entry requirements for the programme you are interested.
As a postgraduate student at FKEE, we will strive to provide you with a personalized
environment for intellectual development which is not only dynamic and engaging but
also provides an environment that will allow you to advance and maximize your potential
in your chosen field of graduate study. We believe that postgraduate students greatly
enhance the intellectual life and we are dedicated to helping you succeed in your study
and your research. FKEE has a variety of programmes ranging from research grants to
an innovative scholarship series that are designed to help you succeed in your studies.
Once again, please welcome to FKEE, and I wish you success as you embark on your postgraduate education. Dr. Mohd Khairul bin Ahmad, Deputy Dean of Research, Development and Publication, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.

Turnitin is an web-based plagiarism detection and prevention system. It teaches students how to work with sources and raises awareness of paraphrasing and quoting techniques in order to avoid plagiarism. The results can be used to identify similarities to existing sources or can be used in formative assessment to help students improve their writing and at the same time avoid plagiarism. Essentially, students may visit UTHM library website and click the Turnitin icon. The percentage of similarities must be at most 30% before proceeding for viva presentation.
In order to use the software, you must have Class ID and Class Enrollment Password. These can be essentially obtained from your supervisor. Notes: For the first time user, supervisor must obtain the Account ID and Password by e-mailing to [email protected]. The next step is explained in the next page of the handbook.
