*The earliest document found on John was a land patent in Albemarle Co., VA on 3 March, 1760 for 30 shillings.

John moved to Virginia after retiring from the British Navy where he was granted 295 acres in what would

become Buckingham County. He served as Sexton of the Buckingham Baptist Church. (Buckingham County

is now Appomattox County)

died of The Plague within 2 days of each other. Frances' father, William Wattmer,

took the Wynne children to a house outside the city and obtained a nurse for them.

It was William who raised the children.

the designation of gentleman. He lived in St. Margaret's Parish. In his will, written

May 20, 1638, he left his son Robert the identical parcels Robert bequeathed to his

own sons 37 years later.

He was in charge of surveying, planning, and improving all public roads in

the colony. He was sent to England to escort back the official set of weights

and measures which would measure the business dealings of the New World.

He was captain, then colonel in the Militia of Charles City Co., VA. He owned

two houses and a farm in England, which he left to his son Thomas. His 600

acre plantation south of the James River was named "Georges".

parents were Willliam Gallemore ( – c. 1829, NC) and Elizabeth Saufley (28 Aug.,

1771, Holland – 28 Sept., 1848, Wayne Co., KY). Elizabeth’s parents were ? Saufley

and Katie Kuntz, both from Holland. John also had a child with a Lacey Williams.

He married 23 Feb., 1821 to a Christina Halloway with whom he had four known

children.

*Court action was taken 18 Feb., 1814 against John Peacock by Anna Gallemore

seeking payment for his illegitimate children. He apparently also had an illegitimate

child with another woman named Lacey Williams. Her court action was 23-25 May,

1817. He married a Christina Halloway 23 Feb., 1821 and had four known children

with her. John’s father Samuel posted bonds for the children of his sons John and

William that they fathered out of wedlock.
