Sermon Series
This past Sunday, we continued our series through the gospel of John. Our
passage came from John 16:16-33. Through this Scripture, we learned that
in the face of the fears of this world, there is peace in Jesus, for He has
overcome the world.
Take-home Question: Do you find yourself focused on the fear-makers in
your life, or on the peacemaker?

One of the best ways to love others in the church is through Home Groups. Home Groups give people an opportunity to grow
closer to God with help from others on the journey. Home Groups provide people with an opportunity to share needs and
concerns in a small group setting. God created us to experience victory in this life through His Spirit and community. Though
one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12).
The Prayer Focus for the months of April and
May is prayer for our leaders. We want to focus
on wisdom for God’s direction for our leaders as
they make decisions for the coming year at
FOC. In addition, we also want to pray for direc-
tion and guidance.

This past Wednesday, the youth learned that in knowing what will happen in the
future when it comes to end times, we can have hope. Students also looked at the
responsibility that we are given when we have this knowledge.

Last week’s worship service focused on the future of our church which involved our vi-
sion, goals, and the plan to reach those goals.
The vision of FOC is to, “Know God, Love Others, and Serve the World.”
The steps that were discussed and approved of in helping us get there are:
1. Invest in worship– bring Christy Edwards on as part-time paid staff
2. Invest in youth– begin process to hire a part-time youth pastor
3. Invest in children– as retirement for Julie Turner approaches within the next year,
FOC will continue to make sure the children’s ministry is a strong and growing part of
FOC ministry
4. What you can do to help reach FOC’s vision– Pray, serve, and faithfully give
