Alex Fradkin … on why we are here:

"We will pursue the light, explore the hidden coastal regions and glide across the waters, teaming with life and under clouds of migrating birds. Photographing, exploring, dreaming and allowing the magic of the island to resonate deep within, permeating through our photographs. We will explore the power and complexity of beauty through our individual lenses. Sculpting images from the raw materials and interactions of texture, form and light, as it plays across the landscape, architecture and weathered faces. Residing within the images you will make, you will endeavor to not merely look, but to instead truly see and feel. In this way, we will together transcend the illusiveness of the ephemeral and suddenly find yourself at the threshold of the liminal space - here at the edge of the world, where everything is once again possible."

Fogo Island Inn sits on an island, off an island, off of one of the four corners of the earth. The award-winning inn is a community asset and 100% of operating surpluses are reinvested into the community. " We built the Inn in the same way that a bird would lovingly build

its nest with the greatest care for every piece of straw. In the furniture

and quilts you can feel the presence of the people who made them,

the influence of their ancestors and the hand of our designers.

When a man builds a home for his family on Fogo Island, he does it

with love and he gives the very best of himself. Homes here have a

soul, which is given to them by the people who made them. Our Inn

is the heart of our community—a place to gather, socialize and enjoy

life. From the moment you come inside, our journey of creation is

with you." Zita Cobb
