Shot Type: Long Shot of the band introduces the band members. Pans - following the band running out of the trees convey a fun theme of the music video and also showing the location. Analysis: -The establishing shot shows the band running out of the trees onto the road which immediately conveys the idea of having a fun theme throughout the video and creates a happy atmosphere which represents the upbeat introduction of the music. -This is also confirmed from a band member who is holding a bunch of balloons which is related with fun. -The band is also seen in country suits (suits/outfits worn by men who live in the country side farmers) which reinforces the genre of folk as it is often associated with the country side. -The location also supports this as it the woods and field are often associated with the country side as well, helping the audience to recognize the genre of music. Time: 0:1 0 Lyric: intro Edit: It cuts to a shot of the lead singer dragging a chair through a corn field when the lyrics start which also supports the genre as they are also associated with the country. Shot Type: Close Up shot of the lead singer with a hand held camera conveys the idea of a home video. Low Angle shot shows the importance of him as he is the lead singer. Analysis: -This shot shows the lead singer tuning an acoustic guitar, which are also associated with this genre, in what the audience assumes to be a van. This is also seen in the folk artist Frank Turner’s music video Essex Boy and so is a convention of this genre. -The lead singer also in the same outfit as shown before, which still conveys the folk genre. -It also addresses the audience on a personal level as the shot before shows the band walking into their dressing room (are home videos) so the audience feels as if they have a fly on the wall presence. -No relevance to the lyrics. Shot Type: Long Shot of the band – displays the whole band and the location to the audience.

Analysis:-The shot shows the band members playing their instruments in a field. Both these aspects convey the genre as their instruments are common to folk music and are associated with the country side, as is the field. This helps the audience recognized the genre.-Their outfits help to support the genre also as they are common to the country side again.-The weather in the shot is over cast which the audience can relate to as being English weather and also conveys the genre as folk is often English.

Time:1:16

Lyric:

‘so let the memories be good for those who stay’

Edit:Cuts to close ups of the band members facing whilst preforming in the field, making the audience recognise the band members.

Shot Type: A Long Shot of a band member with a hand held camera – makes the audience feel like they are watching him, supported by the filter, and being present.

Analysis:-The shot shows a band member walking through a corn field – familiar with the country side, again supporting the genre.-There is also a filter on the lens, creating a blurred black boarder round the shot which is common in the indie genre. This confirms the target audience as people who seen as indie also like folk music.-Again the weather is common to England, showing the audience that the band and location is English.-The shot is illustrative of the lyrics as him walking alone represents “sent me off from the God that I once loved” – showing the audience that as he no longer has God in his life, he is walking alone – religion states that you are never alone without God.

Lyric:

‘Oh, the shame that sent me off from the God that I once loved’

Edit:Cuts to a close up of the band members feet whilst walking, conveying closeness to him.

Shot Type: Close Up shot of a band member playing his guitar – shows the audience his instrument which is common to this genre.

Analysis:-This shot shows the band playing live, which is a convention of the folk genre.-Again, the outfit is similar to those of the country side, reinforcing the genre.-The appearance of the instrument shown in this shot also shows the audience of the genre as it looks unusual though can be associated to this genre.-The shot is also a clip form the bands live bookshop sessions performance at Treadwell's Books in Covent Garden. The bookshop sessions is very famous to those who know the band, so is aimed at a niche audience.

Time:2:20

Lyric:

‘remember now spring swap snow for leaves’

Edit:Part of a montage of clips from the bookshop sessions, which give the audience a snippet of their performance, enticing them to watch more.

Shot Type: The way the camera is angled and the position of the member allows the audience to see not only him, but the objects on the floor.

Analysis:-The final shot shows one of the band members on the floor with his eyes closed, finalizing to the audience the end of the video.-There are also feathers and what looks like coloured hay which demonstrates the audience genre, as these objects can be associated with the indie genre. -However, it also signifies the country side theme, as it is representative of a barn which continues with this theme which conveys the folk genre.

Time:3:31

Lyric:

outro

Edit:Cuts to a final shot of someone laughing, connecting the fun theme of the first shot to the last.
