Rug Hooking and Braiding. Embroidery. Bobbin Lace.
Quilting. Knitting. Join us for a celebration of fiber and textile
arts. Maine-based artisans will fill the Library with
demonstrations and hands-on activities for all ages! Items
will also be available to purchase. This event is free to attend.
Coyote...America’s Song Dog Wednesday, March 25, 6:30 pm
The Scarborough Public Library and
Scarborough Land Trust are excited to
partner on this program. Come join
conservation biologist Geri Vistein on a
journey to discover who this important
and resilient carnivore is, in a way you
have never heard before. This
presentation is all about us as well, since
we share the landscape and our lives with coyotes. Come
together and share your own stories, ask questions, and
share a dialogue that helps us all to understand better our
very deep rooted relationships with all life, including our

March 15, 2020 marks the 200th anniversary of Maine’s
Statehood. Our Bicentennial Series is made possible through
the financial partnership of the Scarborough Public Library
and Scarborough Historical Society, and through a grant
awarded by the Maine Humanities Council. The following
programs will be held at the Library and are free to attend.

Library Genealogy Group Fourth Monday of the Month 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm
Location: Meeting Room
Next gathering is March 23. This monthly Genealogy Group
led by Don Taylor will introduce you to a range of vetted
resources for ancestral research. This group will meet in
April and May before taking a break for the summer.

Changes in the Youth Room
Sarah Cropley has accepted a position as the Children’s
Librarian at the Portland Public Library. Her good fortune is
our loss. We will miss Sarah! There will be a time of transition
as we reevaluate our youth programming going forward.

Pajamarama! Pajamarama is taking a break in March and
will be back in April. Stay tuned for the date
and an earlier time based on results from
our recent survey.
ART Lab! Fridays through March 20
10:30 am to11:30 am
Ages 3 and up with an adult
Join Jaclyn and Mrs. C for a fun hour exploring
ART. Each week participants will listen to a story and then
create some ART. From sun catchers to collage, using
crayons, watercolors, scissors, and more, we will all be rolling
up our sleeves and getting our hands dirty. Come prepared to create some amazing pieces of original ART!
Thursday Story Time Thursdays 10:30 am for all ages
Jaclyn will take the helm of our Thursday Story Time. Join her
as she shares stories, songs, and nursery rhymes. A fun time
for all.
Saturday Story Time Saturdays 11:00 am for all ages
A mix of stories and song now being offered with Brenda
and her guitar! This is a great story time for families who
can’t attend during the week.
TAB Mystery Night New Date: Friday, April 10 6:00 pm to 7;30 pm

There’s something mysterious happening in the
Library! Join our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) for a

Minecraft Miner Day “Drop In” Every Fourth Sunday of the Month
(It’s happening the 5th Sunday in March)
Beginners: 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

creative thinking and problem solving skills. With the help of
our teen developers, the library has its own dedicated
Minecraft server. Come explore what they’ve created! Parents/guardians of children under 10 must remain in the

Group Maine will introduce different ways to inspire your
work—from prompts and storyboards, to online tools like

Computing with Chris: A Tour of the
Computer Friday, March 20 10:15am to 12:15 pm
Join librarian Chris Libby for this two-hour introduction to
using a computer. Intended for those with no or limited
computer experience. Topics to be covered:
● Different types of computers you can use
● Basic parts of the computer, and how to interact with
them
● Computer operating systems
● How all these things work together
Time for hands-on practice, computers will be provided. Seating is limited and registration is required. Call 883-4723 option 4 to reserve a spot.
NEW! Reading History Now Available
In response to patron requests, the Minerva system now
allows patrons to save their reading history. You must opt-in
to use this feature and it is not retroactive. To opt-in, visit
https://minerva.maine.edu and click on My Library
Account. Enter your name and library card number, click
on Reading History, and after reading the disclaimer click
the Opt-in button. You can opt back out or delete your
history at any time. If you need help with any of these steps,
please call the Reference Desk at 883-4723 option 4.
