eNEBULA, SOLUTION FOR THE FUTUREThe Teltronic eNEBULA (“evolved” NEBULA) system is the answer to the growing need for wideband data transmission in critical environments, offering a solution that integrates different radio technologies and sufficient flexibility to cover all requirements of the users.

Designed based on the most extended mission-critical technologies, it incorporates the reliability and robustness of the TETRA standard with the wideband services of LTE into a single network. Meanwhile TETRA assures mission-critical communications with features such as group calls, emergency calls, and other priority call establishment, LTE provides new services such as video streaming, access to external databases, and other applications that require massive data transfer.

The convergent solution from Teltronic elevates user operations to a new level, with the confidence that the main PMR concepts remain present in the infrastructure, including availability, coverage, redundancy, privacy of communications, resilience,

scalability, cybersecurity, and advanced radio services. Built over the architecture and components of the successful NEBULA TETRA infrastructure, this evolution permits easy migration of existing TETRA networks to systems with added LTE wideband capacity.

Contrary to other models based on third-party collaboration, Teltronic has 100% designed its own hybrid network with in-house technology, resulting in the following strengths:

INTEGRATED SOLUTIONThe integration of TETRA and LTE technology is taken into consideration from the first project design phases through start-up of operations of the final system. The integration is achieved over four layers:

INFRASTRUCTURECommon components enabled for use for both TETRA and LTE. Common base station hardware means that both technologies can be installed using the same antenna mast, and also share the same power supplies and spares parts. The system controllers and nodes making up the core network are also simplified; a software update to a TETRA node converts it into a hybrid one.

RADIO TERMINALSThe Teltronic portfolio includes hybrid TETRA and LTE terminals, which allows users to have access to critical voice services and wideband features in a single device.

CONTROL CENTERThe Teltronicintegratedcontrolcenter

(CeCoCo) not only serves for TETRA and LTE, but also permits integrating

other communications and multimedia technologies such as other digital

radio communication systems, analog telephones, cellular telephone systems, etc.

NETWORK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The NetworkManagementSystem (NMS) permits the system administrators to

configure, manage, and monitor both LTE and TETRA radio access, making it the only tool necessary for network administration,

monitoring, and incident resolution.

CENTRAL NODE eNEBULA is deployed as a single network which, employing a single NMS, gives network administrators the capacity to configure, monitor, and verify the performance of all TETRA and LTE elements by means of a powerful graphic user interface.

The eNEBULA infrastructure offers excellent levels of coverage, security, and availability, with a platform designed to guarantee efficient system scalability and cost-effectiveness. It is the only TETRA system that is 100% IP based on Ethernet, which can be rolled out as a secure and reliable network with distributed switching and intelligence, and that also can guarantee performance by means of fault-tolerant configuration.

The TETRA and LTE node is available in different formats in order to adapt to each deployment scenario.

CeCoCo is the Teltronic control center solution for dispatch, AVL, and incident management capable of integrating various communications technologies including TETRA or other analog and digital radio systems, telephone lines, LTE, etc. The CeCoCo solution provides a complete set of tools for computer assisted dispatch (CAD) and 911/112 emergency operations.

CeCoCo centralizes and manages diverse means of voice communication from the same user interface and peripheral audio systems, thereby enabling rapid and effective communication and efficient management of information by one or several operator positions. It furthermore combines all the characteristics required for professional use for large call centers, including functionalities such as multiconference, recording, management of secondary audio channels, and reception of alarms, among others.

The system is structured in independent modules that can be configured into an integrated solution with the operational features and functionality required by control center operators and supervisors.

SPECIAL APPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND EMERGENCIES

CYBERSECURITY

Teltronic incorporates in its portfolio a complete range of licenses and services to guarantee end-to-end cybersecurity for solutions for the public safety sector. Based on minimum privileges policies, in combination with physical and logical protection methods, Teltronic provides system hardening, penetration testing assistance, periodic security update patches, anti-malware protection, data recovery, and other services.

AUTHENTICATION AND ENCRYPTION

The eNEBULA system supports different types of authentication (authentication of radio terminal by the infrastructure and mutual authentication initiated by the network), always included as part of the terminal registration process. At the same time, the integrity of communication is protected by air interface encryption, which consists of a transformation of the data transmitted over the air such that it cannot be accessed by unauthorized users, and by end-to-end encryption that fully protects information passed between users.

SDM

With theSynchronousDataManager(SDM), patented by Teltronic and which permits optimization of data transmission avoiding saturation and allows use in conjunction with voice applications, call collisions are prevented when transmitting data over TETRA. The SDM application allows the number of channels necessary for data transmission to be reduced to a minimum compared with other TETRA solutions for the same volume of data traffic, and data polling and refresh rates (such as for AVL) are greatly improved. For example, by utilizing TETRA terminals with incorporated GPS receivers, users can take advantage of real-time location service without interruption of voice operations in the network, being able to refresh the GPS positions of more than 1000 units within only 20 seconds.

VIDEO SOLUTIONS

Mobile video and integration with CCTV systems are growing needs for the mission-critical public safety sector. eNEBULA LTE permits the transmission of video in real-time and the CeCoCo solution can be easily integrated with centralized CCTV systems.

MCPTT SOLUTION

Professional-use communication services according to the 3GPP MCPTT standard. This license within the eNEBULA enables permits mission-critical communication in LTE networks, both public and private, as well as interoperability between TETRA users and LTE devices.

INTERFACE FOR IoT SOLUTIONS

TETRA and LTE technologies can be employed as the means of communication for applications for the InternetofThings(IoT). eNEBULA offers a specific interface (IoT gateway) for facilitating the development and implementation of such applications for mission-critical environments. The data obtained through devices, personal accessories, ambient sensors, etc., are sent though eNEBULA and are received by the CeCoCo or other standard Cloud platforms for processing.
