THE CITY OF DEBARY• GEOGRAPHY: The city has a total area of 21.4 square miles , of which 18.2 square miles are land and 3.2 square miles (15.02%) are covered by water.

• CITY OF DEBARY: The City of DeBary is known for its warm and friendly hometown atmosphere. DeBary has thousands of oak trees, is a Bird Sanctuary, and has an extensive park system.

Located on the northern shore of the beautiful St. Johns River, it is the gateway to southwestern Volusia County, with direct access to I-4 and U.S. Highway 17/92 and serves as a corridor between Orlando, Sanford, and Daytona Beach.

DeBary has been incorporated since December 31, 1993 and has a population of 19,330 (2012) within an area of 25 square miles.

The 7,001 housing units averaged 384.2 per square mile. Currently in 2019 the city’s population has grown to 21,118, placing it as the 113th largest city in Florida.

Amazon’s facility will be built right off Interstate 4 and Howland Boulevard in Deltona, FL. Deltona officials hope the facility will

open in November 2020. The massive facility is expected to create as many as 500 jobs over a three-year period. The jobs at the

new facility will start at $15 an hour and include benefits such as medical and dental insurance for full-time employees, according to

Amazon.

University of Florida Health and Halifax Health are in conversations to expand an already successful collaboration that is poised to transform the health care landscape in Volusia County and the surrounding region through high-tech, high-touch quality care backed by the expertise of leading UF physicians and scientists. Halifax has commenced construction on the hospital on land

adjacent to Interstate 4 at State Road 472. The facility is expected to open by early 2020. The two health systems have had a tight

working relationship for several years.

The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens is a 116-acre zoo and botanical garden located north of Orlando, Florida at the

intersection of I-4 and Hwy 17-92 near the city of Sanford. The zoo has been an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and

Aquariums since March 2011.

Currently the northernmost station on the SunRail route, the DeBary Station is just a stone’s throw from the St. Johns River and U.S. Highway 17-92 and is easily accessible to Interstate 4. DeBary is rich in natural beauty and the station is within walking and biking

distance to some of Central Florida’s most scenic parks.
